There are sex scandals on both sides - though it does seem there are an aweful lot of gay scandals on the right lately.

Why? I'm guessing because where they are from or raised, it is difficult to get into politics if you are openly gay - so they remained closet gay and spoke out against it in order to hide their identity.

Kind of like in the snake breeding world - those who speak out the loudest against hybrids are often the ones secretly doing it so that they can create a new morph, claim it to be pure, and make lots of money - as they claim to be totally against hybrids and integrades and keep their lines pure (it only takes 3 or 4 generation of backbreeding to bring a morph from one species into another and have it look pure).

The saying "I think thou dost protest too much" unfortunately does sometimes have some truth to it.

I thought politicians and snakes were totally related.

It matters to the Rep voter though and they end up making theirs leave.

Yeah, you're pretty right on that for the most part. I don't really care about someone else's sexual hijinx very much. The reason I get a kick out of the rightwingers going down (literally and figuratively) is because of they way they set themselves up as "defenders of morality" yet seem drawn to sodomite ways with a passion.
It's not the deed, it's the hypocrisy.
I would count it as another mark against conservatism that it's members seem so inclined to hide their sexuality in a way those on the left rarely do.
If the right had not been drumming the anti-gay drums for years what Craig did wouldn't have been news. He was bitten by a beast he helped create.

Yeah, it's true.  The Democrats still support the Military Corporate Fascist Empire (or MCFE), they're just less gung-ho about it.  Screw the lot of 'em, I'm Green.  We'll never win anything, so you can't criticize our leadership.

So in this thread they are hypocritical - but in another thread where I said the salvation would be hypocritical if they hired homosexuals, people asked why.

Sometimes I really have trouble understanding the thought process of the left.

Kev's example attacks MoveOn.org as being hypocritical, not the Democrats. Careful whom you punish.

Yes, I picked on them that post since the thrust was on the other sides far side.
For the politicians themselves the examples are also numerous.
Take last month for example. How often have you heard about Bush's fiscal irresponsibility? The Dem's rejected his budget for 2008 and added 22 billion.
Massive debt all because of the "tax cuts for the rich" but that apparently doesn't stop them from spending even more we don't have.
