Yeah, after being in a community for awhile you get a feel for different forum going archetypes that pop up. And sometimes you wonder if it's the same person. Luckily for us, however, is that we rarely type like crap so it's easier to discern the difference.
Of course, everyone has their attention whores.

That was an alarming forum.
Why can't children get everything they need to know of sex from movies, like I did. I dislike that they're getting sex info from their peers.
If only our schools had some sort of proper sex education program...
Alright, now, who wants to be transistorized?

I, too, found that amusing. She's got it backwards.
The Catholic Church is Christianity. The various forms of protestantism are just spinoffs created by people who desired to change the tenets of their belief system out of convenience.

Now, there are enough Christian churches that, if you look long enough, you can find one that lets you worship exactly the way you want to.

Re: You Can't Be Serious.
Uh, no. The Catholic Church is the codified form of Christianity which, with the Roman Empire's and later through it's pervading influence, wiped out other churches and interpretations.
Orthodox churches came about through splits, largely to do with decisions of Ecumenical Councils and the like; they remains essentially Catholic in fundamental doctrine. Or at least many of the rituals. Name-calling still seems to go on so I'm not actually sure who claims who believes what. It's all nutty and they'll all forcible convert you (with the hacksaw at the ready) given half a chance so it's probably just best to nod and pretend you understand if it becomes a problem.
Protestant churches (etc. etc. – 'modern' 'low' churches) came about due to people finding the Catholic church unpleasant for theological reasons (in the sense of not for 'convenience'; admittedly 16th Century splits are successful primarily due to state support (for various and usually obvious self-interested reasons).
They're all crazy (IMHO), but the Catholic church is 'strict' in the sense that, along with associated Orthodox churches, it's the 'highest' and most ritualised. Part of me thinks that the lower, the more sensible.

Re: You Can't Be Serious.
Not to refight the Wars of Religion here, but the protestants and catholics were "strict" about different things. I just thought it a stupid way to describe Catholicism to an exceedingly naive audience.

Well, that's why the term is usually "Cafeteria Catholic."
The Catholic Church has rules and has an organization (the Magisterium) that makes those rules. "Cafeteria Catholics" pick and choose convenient rules from the set of given rules.
If you're Protestant and you don't like the rules, you just split and form the Third Reformed Presbyterian Church of Eastern Iowa with the rules you like.

I think we should use marijuana instead of crackers for communion, and send missionaries to spread the Word to the adult film industry.

Re: You Can't Be Serious.
Yeah, consider the original cafeteria catholic: Martin Luther. He didn't want to pay for a papal indulgence, so he founded his own church, and invented marginal doctrines such as "Ipsa enim fides sola iustificationem dat et sanctificationem" to justify grace piracy.
When your product is being regularly stolen, there comes a time when you have to take appropriate action. We simply cannot allow piracy to continue to destroy the livelihood of priests, bishops, nuncios, and everyone"

My Latin's pretty rusty.
That which is for ?fidelity? alone will be justification and sanctification for this?

Generally translated as "faith alone gives justification and sanctification."
Also known as "why I will never be a Protestant."

It's in Romans, somewhere.
All I'm saying is that the protestant--catholic theological divisions are substantive, not just a matter of being more "strict" or less "strict." If you want to have a proper theological debate, to the Ministry with you. I'll even put on my atheist cap and occasionally meddle, if you want.

Ha! Yeah, or for living life itself. I don't know about you, but I would've been mortified to ask anyone the questions I had when I was tweenaged. I probably would've been as bad, though; the false anonymity seems to really get things out there that shouldn't always have an answer for and should be answered over time (or in teacher/sex ed form of "everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask").

Totally. We'd be safer, cleaner as a society if we'd drop the abstinence bullsmurf and actually brace ourselves for real world conditions.

Ha-ha.
Trust me, while it's refreshing to watch that smurf get pulled from Nintendo's planning, with no game plan to replace it, it really shows that Nintendo continues to know jack-smurf about online. Joystiq is covering it and people in the comments are blaming us at Outsider and other spin-off forums.
I had nothing to do with it. If I did, I would've been a little more prepared for the thousands of uniques that we got slammed with and brought the server down yesterday three times in a row.
