And you rant about the changes in the forum in Forum Feedback...

At least until the Mods get tired of defending themselves and close the topic

Re: Proposed forum changes: Autumn 2007

OK, I get what the changes are doing. It's just that I liked Unplugged the way it was, full of movie reviews and cooking tips and lolkitties, you know, all warm and fuzzy.
Now, you go there and deal with:"UNFAIR! I got a ticket, and all I did was run a stop sign!" when that kinda thing was, you know, in it's own space, as it were.

Now, it's like all the Jedi and Sith are all in the same room.

This is the anti-Mac way of life. Changing something just to confuse people. Remember the OS X Beta?

You mean 10.0?

No, 10.0 was Apple's way of getting close enough to what they used to have to satisfy the people who complained about the Beta being so drastically different.

The OS X we have now is a lot closer to OS 9 than what the Beta was shaping up to be.

I find the new categories to be completely unconfusing. My only quibble, and it's a small one, is that the new titles come off as being awfully bland. But shrug whatareyagonnado?

Re: Proposed forum changes: Autumn 2007

You might want to look at the start date of this thread and when the changes went through.

Start: 9-4-07
Changes: 9-10-07

Okay that means the equation to solve our problem is 10 - 4.

10 - 4 = 6

By your math 6 = 1. Okay, you obviously forgot to carry the 5 somewhere or something.

Things seem to make sense. I realized that habitually, just as I still type macaddict.com/forums into the url page, I still scroll down the page the same amount to get to the forums that I frequent, so the names didn't make a big difference.

Re: Proposed forum changes: Autumn 2007

The problem with people posting questions in the wrong forum is however still at large. Maybee you should add a line in the Mac|Life Readers section that that isn't the correct place to post support-questions.

Also I've noticed that the number of missplaced post, mostly BH/ET(Everyday Tech)-questions that ended up in the Mac|Life Readers section more than doubled since Apple released the Intel Macs. That could however be a good thing in a way since it shows that more new readers has found theire way to M|LF/MAF. I guess that it however creates a lot of unnessesary work for the moderators with moving the posts to the correct sections.

Re: Proposed forum changes: Autumn 2007

So you're saying you had to wait until someone told you to post alternatives? That certainly didn't stop you from uselessly complaining.

Really, if you want to be taken seriously you have to stop just complaining and start giving useful advise.

Besides we were held up a whole day on top of that implemented tonight thing. You need someone else's permission to use that extra time too? Your excuses are a little on the weak side.

Re: Proposed forum changes: Autumn 2007

Whoa. Sorry. I  thought putting this in my last post: tongue meant I was just kidding around.

I didn't actually see this thread until the morning I posted about the bland titles, besides a couple other things. Believe it or don't, I did try to think of something on Saturday, but I came up empty. Spent Sunday morning, until 1:30 pm or so, out of the house. I was surprised that the new format wasn't implemented by then, but I'm too technically retarded to know that meant it wasn't too late to come up with something. Not that I could have anyway. If that makes my posts simply useless complaining and my excuses weak, so be it.

Once the transition happened, isn't a little joking around and sarcasm expected? It isn't like we can change anything now.

I don't understand why you guys are being so humorless about this; enough to chastise forum members for making weak excuses and useless posting, like that's a new development.

Re: Proposed forum changes: Autumn 2007

Thank you. Sorry I was snappy. As you can doubtless see, it was hard enough work to come up with the current crappy boring titles and descriptions. We really would like stuff with a bit more oomph but we wanted them to be relatively descriptive as well. That was the best we could in about as long a time as you said you spent.
