Who's stupid idea involved covering the WiFi antenna with a little black nub on the corner? Why didn't they extend that piece horizontally, like the iPhone?

Can websites be viewed in landscape mode? The little video on Apple's website doesn't show this. I know you can do it on the iPhone. Anyone know?

I'll be buying the 16gb model as soon as I find one. This is exactly what I wanted.

Re: iPod Touch
I want one in the 160GB size. Ah well. They did make my decision tougher. I'd love a portable internet device with music/video/photo...but...I have too much music to store on a 16gb device...gosh dang you apple.
I guess I'll just have to win the lottery and buy one of each.

I just watched the "iPod Touch Tour Video" and they showed websites viewed in both landscape and nonlandscape mode.
Personally I think the iPod Touch is very cool, however I don't think I'll be buying one any time soon, I already have a 4 gig Nano and 30 gig iPod that I barely use now. I also wonder if the Touch will affect iPhone sales?

Re: iPod Touch
why can't they make a version of the iPod touch with a hard drive rather than flash memory? I wouldn't mind it being a bit thicker if it meant being able to store my entire music/video library on it.

More or Less. Save for the iPod Classic all the iPods & iPhone use Flash Storage which only typically comes in the binary multiples like Daniel listed. Other figures like 5, 10, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100, 120, 160, 200, 250, 320, etc are only really practical on a magnetic drive.

Re: iPod Touch
The classic holds 160 gigs....how much space do you need?
*edit*
Oh, the touch. Got it.

The only real option will happen when SSDs come down in cost. Regular drives burn through the batteries in smaller units too fast

I'm not so sure this is really a technical limitation, though, as far as solid-state storage is concerned; if it really were limited to power-of-2 storage sizes, then 16GB would really mean 16GB rather than 16,000,000,000 bytes, which is what Apple uses.

I've been able to fight my upgrade-itis up till now, but this is just too much for a poor boy to handle! 16GB iPod touch, or 80GB iPod classic?? Argh, but I have so much other stuff I want to buy already!!

Re: iPod Touch
You have a point, Dan. Solid state storage does seem to pick and choose which aspects of the power of two it actually follows. It's only ever binary progression in the number of MB or GB but never binary in the MB = MiB or GB = GiB interpretation.

I know of course, it's the new 8 GB Nano that did it for me.

Re: iPod Touch
I've seen several complaints already about the storage size. People need to remember that this is running a full OS with a large and bright screen. I am sure that a typical HD would take a major flogging, and with WiFi and that much screen real estate, the battery life would be rediculously low without going to flash memory. Once you've made that decision, then you have to consider cost of the unit overall and just pack in as much memory as you can afford...which is 16 gigs for the average consumer.
Apple could have waited much longer to release it for flash prices to go down, but with the iPhone already on the market, you have to strike while the iron is hot.
...therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. Daniel 9:23c
