Re: iPod Touch

There's two things buzzing around Uni today, Bush referring to us as Austrians at APEC and how everyone is going to save for the iPod Touch. It appears that a portable Safari is enough to justify the purchase. Now we just need a local messenger app and a basic word processor and we're set.

Re: iPod Touch

The controversy continues: iPod Touch may have Bluetooth, but currently crippled

Or that utility is built for future iterations and even the iPhone, which is why it has the icon for it but won't show it because the hardware isn't there.

But still, what a shipping blunder.

Well, someone will open one up any day now. Then we'll know.

Re: iPod Touch

The possible lack of ability to update contacts and dates on the fly coupled with a lack of Bluetooth support was a deal breaker for me. That functionality will have to return if it's going to take the place of my Palm T|X. Otherwise as long as it has Bluetooth and I can use it with my Bluetooth stereo headphones or my Bluetooth stereo receiver, I'll cut my losses and use my cellphone and/or BlackBerry for contacts/dates, as I probably should be anyway and dump this Palm crap.

Re: iPod Touch

If a Palm TX could somehow sync EASILY with itunes playlists, I'd be happy camper.

But , I want to rant a bit more about the radio / lack of streaming issue.  And please, if it already supports browser based mp3 streaming like from KCRW 89.9 someone let me know... I noticed they had them bookmarked in the promos for the device.

But like, for example, an iTunes store branded radio stream that was enabled with instant store purchases would have owned over that Starbucks feature.  And its how like every other subscription service already works.  I cannot believe its not a feature, but maybe its just not ready to rolled out as of yet...

I just think overlooking streaming with a WiFi enabled device is smurfing HUGE oversight.

My addiction to SomaFM notwithstanding... I will wait until I know iPhone/Touch supports streaming standards  - and then I am onboard.

I guess maybe I just have to wait for devs to support that through the Safari browser?

Re: iPod Touch

Of the early reviews that are out, it seems like the nano is getting much better marks than the touch.

I thought the earlier pics of the nano looked odd (as did many), but seeing it in person was pretty impressive.
