Re: Domino's Oreo Pizza

Oreos are cheap chocolate. I know I'm a snob but at least get some real chocolate every once in a while. The real stuff is why people like it, not the cheap junk that they make so everyone can eat the junk nonstop.

Re: Domino's Oreo Pizza

Maybe I'm not as amazingly cultured as some, but where would one get "good" pizza, if Domino's and Sbarro are deemed unworthy of consumption? As a side note, where do you think Papa John's stands? I think it's overrated.

I believe I have had "good" pizza, as it cost a lot more and was much better. Had some really good stuff at this microbrewery near where I live.

Well back in Spokane I went to a place named Europas for pizza.

Haven't been out to any pizza places in Portland yet.

Re: Domino's Oreo Pizza

We have a pizza place downtown called the Mellow Mushroom. I've yet to eat there, but I've heard good things. This is something that would only appeal to vegetarians and they really have to do it right, but they offer tofu as a topping.

Dominos is a Catholic conspiracy.

Yup, tons of sugar in it for that extra addictive factor. It's hard to find real chocolate in the US. If you ever have the real thing, you won't want Milk Chocolate anytime soon.

Oreo cookies are working models of something which is more than a sum of its parts:

2 wafers that are nasty by themselves
1 layer of white sugar goo which is nasty by itself

Combined into a consumer good which is okay.

But then you add:

1 glass of milk for dunking

and the taste has risen to new heights! If you could unravel the "mystery" of how this cookie works, perhaps problems of metaphysics, quantum mechanics, world peace, and yes- even race relations, could be solved. A wise man once said "Look to the cookie Elaine, look to the cookie!" If only he had been looking at an Oreo…

The milk is critical,  but you have to make homemade double-stuffs to really get the full effect.

The best pizza here is a local place called Mimmo's.

The best chain pizza I've eaten is from Papa Murphy's(with the garlic sauce).

Papa John's isn't very good at all. Domino's isn't either, but their thin crust pizza is edible.

Papa John's salts their pizzas to hide the fact that their pizzas taste like wet card board.

"Good" pizza is the one you like best ;-)

"Authentic" pizza places are everywhere, some are good, some bad but it all depends on your tastes really. It seems the cheaper the pizza is the worse it is though.....Kinda like if they made pizza in China and sold it at WalMart for $2.99 you can bet it's not gonna be good.

Virtually any Mom and Pop joint that makes their own dough and makes you a pie is light years better than anything you'll get from a chain. Its that simple, amazing culture not required.

BUT I will say this: the absolute best pie I have ever had was in NYC at a place called Una Pizza. It is pizza perfection.

Targets havr Pizza Hut in it.

But Domino's would only get into WalMart if McDonald's suddenly folded, and we know that ain't happening.

I like dominos' thin crust pizza.  It's no Imo's (St. Louis people know) but it's not bad.

I'll add my votes for Papa Murphy's and Donato's for best chain pizzas.

As far as chains, I'll agree with Papa Murphy's.

Though I wish you guys knew the joys of Rocco's Pizza or Mississipi Pizza back home.

In my experience any independent pizzeria's pizza will be better than any chain's pizza.

Re: Domino's Oreo Pizza

Another Papa Murphy vote.

Around here we have House of Pizza, an locally-owned place that started in 1964.  It's kind of spendy, but I could eat a whole one by myself (I wouldn't, but I could).

Best pizza?  The ones I make myself!  Although I still haven't found the "perfect" crust.

NO!

That being said, the only time I order Dominos is when its' very late, I'm drunk, very hungry, and the good local pizza place is well closed. In these situations Dominos actually tastes acceptable.

That being said, I did this recently (passed on the Oreo desert even though they tried hard to sell it). A veggie pizza was $16.00 which is expensive, especially considering that Dominos is (was) supposed to be cheap and should be cheap considering their pizza is sub-par to say the least. It does taste good drunk though.

The mark of any really good pizza is when it still tastes good cold the next day. Dominos NEVER does.

Re: Domino's Oreo Pizza

I want to try the Oreo Pizza.  I can't help myself.  In my opinion, a local pizza chain called Aver's is the best.  Their regular pizzas are so so, but their specialty pizzas (ie, the cream and crimson or cuban black bean) are delicious.
