After a decade of guesswork and anticipation, it was almost a given that
the magical unicorn we now know as the iPad could never be as good as
the wild visions conjured up by our minds and the media/rumor sites.
We contacted publishers and developers to get thier take on the newest Apple product.

Times, lawyers for another company are already contemplating
next steps over Apple's decision to name its new product an iPad—and
the company doesn't make feminine hygiene products. Fujitsu has been
selling a mobile device called an iPad in the U.S. and other places
After weeks of rumors, Apple finally made good with a tablet computer called the iPad. But one thing is conspicuously absent from its new iBookstore, particularly after so many publishers have promised them: Magazines.
If your head is still fuzzy from an iPad media event hangover, you might have missed a nugget of info that’s now part of the iPhone SDK: Apple is now allowing apps to make VoIP calls over 3G data connections!

So sit back, relax and enjoy our gallery of iPad joy.
To paraphrase Eric Cartman: "Yes, I have used the iPad; who wants to touch me?"
EIC Paul and I were supa-stoked to get some hands-on time with the iPad after this morning's event. We played with it for about 90 minutes, lingering as long as we could even while Apple's uber-patient gadget-handlers politely mentioned (and rementioned) that "we're getting ready to shut it down."
Shut it down?! Never! We are geeks with a new toy! Christmas morning and whatnot! Anyway, after they pried it from our sweaty trembling hands, we jotted down these first impressions just for you. (Plus video, after the jump...)
Apple finally took the wraps off its fabled tablet today, confirmed to be called the iPad as rumored. The device is intended to bridge the gap between the iPhone or iPod touch and a full-fledged laptop, but as “magical & revolutionary” as Steve Jobs thinks it may be, we can’t help but wonder what the company could have unveiled today that would have been more impressive.
