When you're out looking at speakers, chragers, earphones, etc. for your iPhone, you may have noticed that some items have a Works with iPhone label.

What's the big deal: Products with the Works with iPhone label conform to Apple's requirements for iPhone compatibility. For example, plug your iPhone into speakers that have this label, and they will work.

But what about the Made for iPod label? Isn't the iPhone an iPod, too?: You might be able to use a Made for iPod device with your iPhone. The iPhone will say that it wasn't made to work with your Made for iPod device. You'll then have to switch your iPhone into Airplane Mode to prevent audio interference, and then your iPhone might work with the deivce. (If you're in Airplane Mode, you can't take or receive calls, use the Internet, use email, or use text messaging.)

In some cases, the iPhone won't work at all with a Made for iPod device. Apple has told us that the iPhone won't be damaged should you decide to dock it in a third-party iPod device has a dock that conforms to Apple's specifications.
