3G iPhones Cheap: French iPhone carrier Orange is encouraging customers to trade up, according to news from multiple readers of PCInpact.” Readers claim the carrier has contacted them and offered incentives that would encourage them to trade up to the 3G iPhone when it’s available. Orange has not confirmed the claim.

 

iFund announces the first two: Pelago, a developer of on-the-go lifestyle applications, and iControl, makers of home automation software are the first two companies chosen to receive funding from the $100 million dollar "iFund" by venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, over 1700 companies applied for funding according to BusinessWeek.

 

Mac OS X Leopard, 10.5.3 bug fix coming soon: MacRumor reports “Apple developers have been testing the next version of Mac OS X Leopard.” The latest version (build 9D34) adds only one kernel performance fix and contains no remaining "known" issues.

 

Sneak and peak: The beta CS4 versions of Adobe's Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Soundbooth are available to the public. Only existing CS3 owners will be able to use the beta software beyond an initial 48-hour window.

 

iPhones in Nordic and Baltic markets: In a one-line press release, “TeliaSonera today announced it has signed an agreement with Apple to bring the iPhone to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia later this year.” The lack of information only heightens the anticipation.

 

Big 256GB SSD: Samsung announced a 256GB 2.5-inch SSD drive. The new MLC (Multi-Level Cell) flash SATA II drive boasts 200MBps read and 160MBps sequential write speeds. This SSD would add some needed weight to the current MacBook Air.

 

Browser war: The big 3 browsers (Explorer, Firefox and Safari) may be gearing up for the next chapter of browser war, the fight for eyeballs and browser brand loyalty. Mozilla will soon release Firefox 3.0, the first salvo.
