AppleInsider reports, Apple and AT&T are discussing a collaboration to offer users the option to purchase an additional data-plan add-on that would allow the handset’s 3G signal to be shared with wireless computers, also called tethering.
It's possible that Apple would allow users to use the tethering application Netshare, produced by iPhone software developers NullRiver, and the tethering cost would be an additional $10 for the service. Netshare was available for a brief time within the iTunes App Store, but was pulled from the roster due to protests from AT&T, which already provides this kind of service for Blackberry users.
One disgruntled iPhone user, upset over the absence of a tethering app, emailed Steve Jobs about the importance of expanding the iPhone's capabilities. Jobs replied to the email, apparently via iPhone, confirming that he was in talks with AT&T. At least that's what the guy claims.
