dizzy bee
Watch out for foes' angry faces--they'll squish you good.

Dizzy Bee 2 is a colorful marble maze-style game that asks you--a simple-minded bee--to rescue to your fruit friends from certain doom. Scattered around each maze are a number of these hapless fruit, and you guide Dizzy Bee towards them by tilting your iPhone or iPod Touch. The control scheme is simple and very tight: big dips will send your bee sailing across the screen, while careful tilts will inch him slowly towards his target.

Once Dizzy Bee rolls over top of a fruit, it unlocks, and you can then escort it to the level exit. It's not simply a matter of winding your way through the maze; in each level you'll encounter enemies that squish you upon contact. The game is especially challenging because your tilts and twists control everyone and not just Dizzy Bee. Dip the iPhone to the bottom left and everything will rush to that corner, including the bee, the fruit and their enemies. This make navigating mazes fun but naturally frustrating; one wrong move and you (or your fruit) will end up squished. You'll encounter bigger obstacles and badder enemies as you progress, but the basic gameplay remains the same throughout your adventure.

Graphically, Dizzy Bee 2 is a bit dull. The animation is smooth and the characters are colorful, but the mazes look mundane and generic. The soundtrack is also very minimalist; happily, the game lets listen to your own music while you play.

THE BOTTOM LINE
Dizzy Bee 2 is good game with great control, but the repetitive style stings its initial fun.
