Apple’s next-gen Mac mini is allegedly not only getting an extreme makeover, but will also include multiple video outputs. The small form factor desktop will have both the Mini DisplayPort connector and a Mini DVI connector.
Why this feature was added is uncertain, but it would give the budget Mac dual display support that it has lacked since it was introduced in 2005. All other current Macs include a built-in display and only need one video output or contain full-size video cards. Including this option in the Mac mini would put it in the same league as the rest of the Apple family.
This kind of news can only mean that Apple is including a faster graphics chipset in the Mac mini. The new model is expected to debut at Macworld Expo.
