USB tethering seems to be working fine with the new iPhone 3.0 software update, according to a developer. While tinkering with the settings in his upgraded iPhone 3G, the developer was actually able to tether the connection from his device over to his laptop via USB and discovered that it could be done by Bluetooth as well.
For those unaware, tethering allows you to
share your device’s internet connection with your laptop. Mobile
carriers generally charge an extra fee for this feature.
Apple
admitted that they had integrated tethering support into the 3.0
release but had not yet corresponded with mobile carriers about the
feature.
