The perks of being on Apple's Board of Directors: Hey, it's Monday, so let's ease ourselves into the week, not with some serious, hard hitting news, but with a photo of Al Gore and his trio of 30-inch Apple Cinema Displays from Time's recent profile of The Great Warming Warner. There's also the HDTV, which probably has Current TV airing constantly. For a man who preaches about global warming, you'd think he'd minimize the stacks of paper on his desk - if his office caught fire, he'd raise global carbon emissions by a substantial percentage.

MacBook class action lawsuit: Fred Greaves and Dave Gately have filed a class action lawsuit in California superior court against Apple. The plaintiffs claim that Apple's MacBooks are falsely advertised as having 8-bit displays with millions of colors, when, in fact, the displays are 6-bit and using dithering. Our favorite take on this tempest in a teapot comes from a comment to Ars Technica's coverage, to wit: "Hey, wait a minute... My computer only displays red, green, and blue! And creates the illusion of displaying all those other colors. Off to file a lawsuit..."

Fake email did not come from Apple: Remember last week, when a fake email saying that the iPhone and Leopard would be delayed sent Apple's stock tumbling? It was initially reported that the fake memo originated from a source at Apple, but now Apple says the fake Apple memo wasn't sent from an Apple source. Apple declined to give any details about its own investigation into the situation, which means we'll probably never really know what happened.

Woz wows 'em at Maker Faire: Steve Wozniak drew a big crowd at the Maker Faire this past weekend, entertaining the crowd with stories about math and engineering. He then hopped on his Segway and rode off into the sunset.
