If you’re a FileMaker Go user, your hump day just got a little bit brighter: Apple subsidiary FileMaker, Inc. today announced the immediate availability of a 1.1 update to both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad versions of FileMaker Go which bring some welcome new features.
FileMaker, Inc. has just updated their FileMaker Go apps to version 1.1, bringing with them such productivity-friendly features as PDF creation, sharing databases via e-mail and inserting photos into your databases.
“FileMaker Go for iPhone and FileMaker Go for iPad have stirred up huge excitement in the FileMaker community and beyond. Initial acceptance has been strong and this is just the beginning,” said Ryan Rosenberg, vice president of marketing and services for FileMaker, Inc. “With these free updates, we are already making both apps even more powerful and adding new ways to share information remotely.”
At the top of the list, FileMaker Go users can now create PDF files directly from the app and either save them to your device or e-mail them to others. Also new to this version is the ability to save a copy of your completed database and e-mail it straight from the app itself, making it much easier for iPhone and iPad users to exchange their databases without having to dock with your computer.
Photo import is also on deck for this update, delivering new ways to work more efficiently. Capture photos on an iPhone or import existing photos from your iPhone or iPad and insert them directly into a FileMaker Go database. Photos stored in your database can be e-mailed out at a later time.
Finally, FileMaker Go now allows users to import records from local or hosted FileMaker databases using script steps, and other iOS developers can now take advantage of a newly enhanced URL protocol for calling FileMaker Go from their own apps.
FileMaker Go 1.1 is a free update from the App Store for existing users; the iPhone/iPod touch version is $19.99 (requires iOS 4.0 or later) and the iPad version is $39.99 (requires iOS 3.2 or later). Both versions are compatible with the desktop FileMaker Pro 7 or later.
