The iPhone has been capable of doing some amazing things thanks to third-party apps, and among them is the ability to use the handset as a portable document scanner thanks to apps like Scanner Pro, which has just released a new update with batch scanning and more.
Developer Readdle Inc. has bumped their popular Scanner Pro app up to version 3.0, a major update with a new, specially designed interface that makes batch document scanning quick and easy. Among the other changes are a new black and white mode, reduced file sizes and the ability to e-mail documents with twice as many pages as previous versions.
“Scanning multi-page documents with Scanner Pro 3.0 is even easier than before,” the app description reads. “Just take a photo of the document, adjust the crop area for each page, and tap the process button. All processing is done in a batch without any effort.”
To get around file size limits when e-mailing attachments, Scanner Pro 3.0 can now save documents in black and white mode, which promises to make your scans as little as half the size when compared to grayscale mode, without losing readability or document resolution. Users can also now send their documents to other supported iPhone apps.
"Scanning documents with the iPhone is something many people have never thought about,” notes Readdle CEO Igor Zhadanov. “They’d love to have pocket scanner but they don’t realize they already have one -- Scanner Pro 3.0 expands what the iPhone is capable of by allowing you to take a single or multiple shots and get great results."
Scanner Pro 3.0 is a free update for existing users, available in the App Store for new users for only $6.99. The 12.7MB download is compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch and requires iOS 3.0 or later.
