As we've been walking the halls of the Macworld/iWorld Expo in San Francisco the past couple days, we've tried to give you a look into the annual event -- but we've also been checking out some of the myriad apps being shown this year. While some of these have been available for a while, they caught our eye for one reason or another.
I took a leisurely stroll through the show floor yesterday afternoon. Fueled only be half a veggie burger and two 16oz glasses of Sprite, I saw some things that I will never forget. And here they are, documented in this video to show you, fair Mac|Life reader. Enjoy.
PS) For the record, those Western Digital hard drives were not running hot. I was trying to make a bad pun, but it didn't work out. And as you may know, I am often spouting bad puns.
Our videographer (see also: visonary) Michael DeLano took a GoPro through the convention halls and shortened it down to two minutes to give you a fully immersive walkthrough of the Macworld/iWorld show floor. Check out and be sure to pay attention to the slow downs--you might see some people you know.
They're still taking the wrapping off of Macworld/iWorld 2012, but we couldn't resist heading down to Moscone Center to get a sneak peek at what this year's show has in store.
Good news, everyone! Not only will we be covering the Macworld/iWorld 2012 show floor like crazy the next two days, but we're having an impromptu, unofficial meet up near the convention! Join the editors for a pint glass of brew at 6:30 at ThirstyBear Restaurant & Brewery, located at 661 Howard Street (cross street is Third Street--right behind the Moscone Convention Center). Arrive promptly if you'd like to join us for dinner, otherwise just head inside and come have a beer!
If you need to get ahold of us, you can tweet Flo (@ohthatflo), Ray (@raguilera), or the official Mac|Life Twitter feed (@maclife). Follow us all on Twitter to keep tabs on our current location.
One more thing: We're giving away a pair of Cirque du Mac tickets, courtesy of Dolly Drive. We'll be asking a very special trivia question and the winner will get the tickets. And then you can come hang out with us Friday night, too!
Steve Jobs is such a tease. At the end of every major Apple event, he waits until the very end to announce just "one more thing," and it's always a very special thing. With WWDC right around the corner (ahem, Monday!), we thought we'd commemorate with a gallery the top ten best and most awesome times Steve's ever uttered our favorite catch phrase.
Like the week of the Verizon iPhone, there was one story that was the dominator of the news here, and that story was Macworld Expo 2011. We've got videos, we've got galleries, we've got stories, we've got interviews. We've got it all. And here it all is, just in case...yeah, yeah, you know, just In Case You Missed It.
The idea of anything happening to our Macs or iOS devices sends us into a frenzy. Personally, this editor would rather not ever take her Mac products out of the house, lest they get a few scratches on their chassis or fall to their deaths. Fortunately, for us co-dependent computer and mobile device owners, FastMac's family of Impact Shield impact resistant cases prevent anything awful from happening to your precious gear. In fact, they'll even protect your precious candy-coated M&Ms. Take a look at the video for a demo.
In what only could be described as the most intriguing iPad case ever (um, iPad apparel?), this iPad jacket case from Alphyn Industries lets you carry your iPad around in your tummy like a Momma Kangaroo. If you're looking for a place to eat or just want to comfortably watch Inception on the train ride home, just unzip the jacket and tap away.
We're back at Macworld Expo for another day of seeing cool things, meeting cool people, and walking really slowly. Our feet are sore, our iPhones are bulging with new contacts (but AT&T's network is holding up like a champ, it must be said), and our backpacks are sagging with swag and empty water bottles. Join our fun with a spin through some photos taken from the show floor on day 2.
The Expo is also open tomorrow from 10am to 6pm, so if you're in the San Francisco area, stop by and check it out!
