For anyone who loves Apple, this weekend was something of a somber affair as fans and company executives took the time to remember the late CEO Steve Jobs, who passed away three years ago yesterday. Our Morning Report takes a look at those tributes, as well as a glimpse into how the iPhone 6 is faring in China, and what Adobe has up its sleeve as its annual MAX conference kicks off Monday in Los Angeles. Read on for the details!
An even split between productivity and fun for the weekend is what we've got to dish up for you this fine Price Drop column. If you like cameras and image editing, then we've got that and if you just wanna get your fishing rod out, we've got that for you too. So dig in, ladies and gents.
We’ve got a couple of big-name releases leading this week’s roundup, including an iPad version of Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, plus the touch debut of Mac tactical role-playing favorite The Banner Saga. Adult Swim’s free-to-play Adventure Xpress also looks like fun, and if you’re a big fan of aging pro wrestlers, then Crazy Taxi City Rush has something for you this week (no, really, brother).
It's an across the board special this week. Games? We got it. Learning? Got it. Cute stuff for the kids. Done. Exercise? Productivity? Music making? Yes, yes, and oh my yes, a biggie on that last one. Well, then, let's get right to it.
Asphalt Overdrive and FIFA 15: Ultimate Team provide a pair of heavy hitters this week, but we’re just as intrigued by lesser-known fare like deceitful online dueler Smarter Than You, colorful route-drawing puzzler RGB Express, and music-fueled shooter Cosmophony. Be sure to check out the latest and greatest in new iOS games, and then pop back next week for another batch.
With iOS 8's great new features, lots of apps are updating in your App Store (you may have even found the App Store hard to connect to lately). Some apps are just updating for the new OS and some are actively integrating the tools of the new OS, and some — best of all — are also cutting prices while integrating those tools. A fair share of this week's apps hit that sweet last category, but there are also plenty more sales that are just good deals anyway.
It’s iPhone release week, and while not a heavy span for prominent new game releases, there are still a few well worth checking out — including the wonderfully absurd Goat Simulator, plus intriguing free-to-play entries like Beach Buggy Racing and Plunder Pirates. And be sure to install any lingering game updates you might have, as many top games are being enhanced for the iPhone 6 and iOS 8.
It's been a big week for Apple fans and it's about to get just a little bit bigger with this weekend's round of low-priced apps. If you want to get your life into some semblance of order, want to be on time, or want to see your to-do list get blown to bits, this is your week. There's loads of good stuff for the productivity-minded, but don't worry — there are games a'plenty, too.
It’s another great-looking week for new iPhone and iPad games, with highlights including the big-name runner Spider-Man Unlimited, role-playing classic Dragon Quest I, and NFL Kicker 15, while exciting indies like Fotonica, Phantom Rift, and Chronology shouldn’t be ignored amidst the pack. Give these brand-new releases a look, and then check back here next Thursday for more.
Premium console ports are a big draw in this week’s iPhone and iPad game release barrage, with World War I adventure Valiant Hearts: The Great War and stealth-action affair CounterSpy both turning heads on the App Store. And Angry Birds Stella is certainly a huge debut, even if it mines the familiar formula once more. Scope these games out and then check back next week for even more.
