It's well known by now that Lion is probably going to be due out anytime now, what with Apple announcing a July release and all, and given we're starting to run out of July. A new report out today seemed to further solidify rumors that the next Mac operating system could be released this week, as Apple Retail Stores have now received Gold Master copies of OS X Lion.
There was no Lion release party this week, like so many had predicted; and there were no hardware refreshes announced. But just you wait! shouts the rumor machine. Apple is taking a "massive bite out of retail sales in the U.S." Using new research from David Berman, whose DeeBee Index is highly respected in the retail industry, Apple U.S. sales have shot up 80 percent compared to a year ago.
Berman calls Apple's sales "mind boggling" and that "people don't realize how much money has been diverted to Apple."

Apple recently applied for patent protection for new iOS camera features, according to Patently Apple.
