When the iPad was first released, critics dismissed it as strictly for media consumption. More than two years later, Apple's tablet has become a master of creation, as well, thanks to new apps and services built for iOS. The latest is Adobe Photoshop Touch, which reinvents the company’s flagship product into a rich (though limited) image-editing tool for iPad 2.
Drag and drop images into the Picturesque window, and you can then crop them or add pseudo-3D perspective, reflections, curved edges, shadows, glows, and border strokes. Each of these effects is precisely configurable--for example, perspective is adjusted by specifying the rotation and elevation; reflection by specifying length, opacity, and offset; and so on.

In the ever-evolving world of technology, where services and gadgets alike always seem to be taking on more and more abilities, it isn't surprising that some folks may long for the good old days (like five years ago) when a website or application did one thing exceedingly well. That's the theme that drives Longform, a website-turned-iPad app that curates all the best content across the web.
Search is a big deal online--just ask Google, Bing, and Siri (literally). But while finding the nearest top-rated pet salon is convenient, some of our most important searches are for the files on our hard drives. Spotlight does a good job finding the proverbial needle in a digital haystack, but it has limitations. Enter Tembo, an app that simplifies searches by organizing results more cleanly than the Finder.
There are few feelings that will make a person's heart drop quicker than the dreaded swipe of the credit card that is met with a message of "Declined." If you're used to managing your budget the traditional way, you no doubt have a filing cabinet full of unorganized bank statements, pre-approved loan offers, and receipts that you can't recall why you saved. While there are a plethora of financial management tools available for your iOS device, no one has yet to come close to the Mint.com Personal Finance app.
Lo-fi effects that nostalgically imitate old film cameras are all the rage these days, and there are plenty of apps to prove the point--especially for iOS. FX Photo Studio Pro brings all the effects you love in apps like Hipstamatic, Instagram, and Photo Toaster to your desktop. Cross processing? Check. Lo-fi grunge vignettes? Check. Super-high color saturation with lens flare? Check again. FX Photo Studio Pro has it all.
My wife and I don't play games together very often. We had some fun with Wii Sports and still fire up Rock Band every so often, but she's not really interested in video games and we're both too competitive to ever risk Scrabble or Trivial Pursuit. Thus, I usually play games alone or with friends. I had to rope the missus in for the two-player Fingle, though, because if I played with anybody else she'd probably get jealous.
As far as real-time strategy games go, engaging in large-scale battle to wrestle key territory from the grasp of your enemies is nothing new, but the unusual Zen-like way Eufloria HD approaches intergalactic combat is out of this world. Soothing ambient music, beautiful abstraction, and calm simplicity make this slow-paced conflict one of the more enjoyably relaxing wars we've ever waged.
