I’m running Tiger (Mac OS 10.4.11) on my six-year-old PowerPC iMac. I want to upgrade my OS to as high as it can go and then upgrade some applications as well. I got a series of OS upgrades from apple.com/download, which I thought would take me from 10.4.11 up to 10.4.6. But unless I can get 10.4.2 installed, I have no hope of moving further. When I attempt to install 10.4.2, I get a message saying, “You can’t install Mac OS X Update on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this upgrade.” Is the problem that I’m upgrading from 10.4.11 rather than 10.4.1? I don’t have 10.4.1 to go back to. Any wisdom, or am I stuck in a sinkhole?
I’m going on vacation and considering not bringing my MacBook because I really want to travel light. But I’m worried about having enough storage on my 16GB iPhone for all the movies and music that I want to bring, plus the photos that I’ll be taking. Can I upload big batches of photos to Flickr or somewhere else?
I just gave my old iMac to my father-in-law. He's never had a computerwith a slot-loading optical drive, and asked me what to do if a discever gets stuck in there. I wasn't sure what to tell him since I'venever run into that problem.
I paid good money a couple of years ago to have an iPod-compatible car stereo installed, but it was worth it. My fifth-gen iPod stays charged all the time, and I don’t have CDs all over my car anymore. But then I got a new iPod nano, and when I connect it to the cable, I can play music, but it won’t charge the iPod. What’s up with that?
My kid wants an iPod touch for her birthday. I’m inclined to fulfill
her wishes, but I’m a little concerned about her looking at
objectionable content on Safari or YouTube, or running up big bills
downloading apps and music. Does the iPod touch come with parental
My young son loves to talk with my mother over iChat, but we're about
to move to another time zone that will make scheduling their virtual
face time a lot tougher. Can we use our iMac's iSight to record video
messages and send them back and forth instead?
