So big surprise, people are loving their new iPads, despite all the quibbles you’ve been reading about in the media. Today you’ll have four more reasons to love it thanks to a fresh batch of apps updated to take advantage of that slick Retina Display, which we have to admit, is hard to put down once we hold it in our hands. And there’s even more for this first Monday of April, so sit back and enjoy the ride as we zip through the news for Monday, April 2, 2012.
The weekend is here, and with comes the final installment of our daily recap for the month of March. But hey, don’t be sad or blue -- there will be plenty more tech news coming on Monday, when we jump head first into the month of April and see what new and delightful surprises the spring season might bring us. In the meantime, sit back and ride out the rest of March by catching up on the news for Friday, March 30, 2012.
We may be Apple fans, but we can still appreciate when competitors bring their best game to the table. Microsoft and Nokia are betting the farm with the new AT&T-branded Lumia 900, which the carrier seems to think will have a bigger launch than even the iPhone. We’re hoping that’s a misquote, but we won’t have long to wait -- the Lumia 900 will hits stores on April 8. Since you’re sitting at home plotting which AT&T store will have the shortest lines on that day, why not catch up on the day’s news for Wednesday, March 28, 2012…?
Live in Houston, Texas, Minneapolis, Minnesota or anywhere in Colorado? Well, congratulations -- you’re among the first to experience a new loyalty program called AT&T Plus which promises cash and prizes to the company’s most loyal customers. (Okay, there are no prizes and the cash is actually just discounts…)
March is winding to a close and our attention turns to April and beyond, wondering what exactly Apple might have up their sleeves for us in the coming months. Meanwhile, competitors like Nokia and HTC are ramping up their Windows Phone initiative with two highly anticipated devices arriving on the same day (!?!) as the kingpins of the cell phone market duke it out over a proposed “micro-SIM” standard that promises to shrink our handsets even further. If you missed today’s news, sit back and soak in what’s happening on this Monday, March 26, 2012.
If you’re reading this from one of the 25 countries that just started selling the new iPad today, welcome! (Sorry, we don’t know all 25 ways to say welcome in those countries, so we’ll stick with the universal language of English.) Now 25 more countries will get to experience the overheating, the poor Wi-Fi and the battery that charges beyond 100 percent -- although all of you will be sitting out the 4G LTE party for now, so you’ll have to do your best to burn through your monthly data plan with 3G instead. Enough sarcasm -- let’s get on with the show for this Friday, March 23, 2012!
The new iPad has only been on store shelves for less than a week and the complaining is already shifting from “My iPad is too warm!” to “Streaming video is eating up all of my 4G LTE data!” -- clearly first-world problems if ever they were.
It seems as if the new iPad’s potential “TemperatureGate” is flaring up and burning even hotter than this morning (okay, enough with the bad puns), but Apple is all like, “Dude, we don’t know what you’re talking about.” Between you and us, it sounds like another one of these non-issues that will wind up becoming a class action lawsuit. Yawn… new Apple product, new headaches, we guess. Thankfully there’s more going on today than just warmed-up iPads, so here’s the rest of the news for Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
Wow! What a weekend for the new iPad, which Apple announced today moved three million units in 10 countries around the world. But new iPad owners aren’t the only ones happy today -- investors liked the sound of Cupertino’s new dividend and share repurchase plan announced early this morning, which is pushing the company ever higher. How high can they go? Is it possible for what goes up to actually stay up? These are questions we may never have the answers to -- but have a look at the news for Monday, March 19 and you be the judge.
If it seems quiet across the internet today, that’s because thousands of us are now holding the new iPad in our hot little hands, and we’re probably too busy jumping between Retina Display-enabled apps to do much else. By all accounts, today’s launch is another success for Apple, who appears to have beefed up inventory of the new iPad as many retail outlets still have stock remaining. You know what that means: Skim through today’s recap and then get to the store and buy one! Without further ado, here’s what’s making news for this Friday, March 16, 2012.
