This week's refurbs, specifically in the MacBook Air range, are really a matter of horse trading. Bigger screen or faster flash-storage? Newer model versus nearly the same older, bigger model with only a tiny bump on the price tag? It's all a matter of what you need versus what you want. Also this week: the 2013 Mac Pro!
As everyone who reads these columns more than once knows that we like to focus on refurbs that aren't too old. Picking a Mac that's 2 years old gets you a decent enough machine, but everyone prefers brand-spanking new. This week, we're excited because there are some MacBook Airs in here from THIS YEAR. That's pretty doggone new, and all our others are less than 1 year old, so these are some pretty sweet refurbs in action.
In honor of the vacation schedules of our readers coming up with holidays and the summer vacation season, we've got some portable deals here. No desktops tying you down and inside, but everything light and ready to roll outside. So let's see what you can grab and go.
Google I/O kicked off in San Francisco on Wednesday with an exceptionally long keynote mostly aimed at developers this time around. Aside from the three bits included in our recap today, the only real news for consumers was a version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 with stock Android coming June 26 -- and surprisingly, the rumors of Android 4.3 (or an even higher version) didn't quite pan out. But hey, the conference has two more days, so maybe we'll hear something today…?
We love the massive sound produced by Belkin's Thunderstorm iPad case and speaker, and you will too, especially if you win this month's contest and pick one up for free. Details and rules and entry form after the jump!
Until the Thunderstorm, the best way to get killer sound when using your iPad was to plug in the very best headphones you had, or maybe send the audio to a set of real speakers, using a cable or AirPlay. But now Belkin’s made it possible to hold a powerful, room-filling set of speakers right in your hand.
Thunderbolt expansion docks have been as elusive as Bigfoot, despite several companies actually showing off prototypes at last year's CES event, but one of them is finally inching closer to reality at this year's show.
With every new Apple product comes a wave of accessories for same, and the new iPad mini will surely be no exception. If you're looking for a case with a hardware keyboard for yours, Belkin has just the thing.
