When discounting their older product, most companies simply dump it into the market and call it a day. But Apple isn’t just any company -- an updated model of the $399 iPad 2 is floating around at retail, and it might improve battery life by as much as 16 percent.
You already knew that Apple was releasing the new iPad on Friday, March 16, but now the company has confirmed what time their retail stores will open on that fateful day in the U.S. and nine other countries around the world.
Normally, we’d be celebrating the next to the last day of February about this time, but 2012 is one of those pesky leap years, which means you’ll have a full 24 hours more of this month than normal. That could be a good or a bad thing depending on how the rest of the month has gone for you, but in this case it’s just an extra day on the calendar keeping us from a new iPad. And with that, let’s take a look at what’s making news for this Monday, February 27, 2012.
Hey, how about that Super Bowl, am I right? Okay, you got us -- we didn’t watch the darned thing because we were working hard all weekend while the rest of you planted your backsides on the couch to indulge in cheap beer, stale nachos and the high blood pressure that surely comes from such testosterone-driven forms of entertainment. By this time next Friday, we’ll all be waiting anxiously for the fat man in the red suit to sprint down our chimneys and leave some (hopefully Mac-related) goodies under the tree. In the meantime, the tech news is showing no signs of letting up, with plenty of rumors and product news to keep you busy on this fabulous Friday, December 16, 2011.
Everyone survive Cyber Monday? It looks like retailers sure have a lot to be happy about, and hopefully you’ll be able to do the same as those boxes of goodies start arriving later in the week. Now that you’ve blown your holiday budget and have no more money to spend, why not catch up on what’s going on around the rest of the internet? You know, the free stuff you might have overlooked? Here’s the latest for Tuesday, November 29, 2011.
You’ve snapped out of your turkey coma, the leftovers are gone and the receipts piled up from your Black Friday shopping hangover are starting to gather dust. Now what? Why, Cyber Monday, of course: The unofficial shopping “sequel” to Black Friday that makes an otherwise dull post-Thanksgiving Monday potentially worth sitting in front of the computer refreshing the home pages of your favorite websites.
Usually by this point in September, the rumor mill would be in overdrive churning up advance word about a new iPod touch or maybe new iTunes features, but this year is different. With the iPhone 5 pushed from its usual early summer release, all eyes are focused on the new handset, which seems to be popping up everywhere except from Apple themselves.
Okay, let’s be honest here: You read this site frequently (we hope!), so you probably know that a new iPhone 5 is just around the corner. So would you really want a two-year old iPhone 3GS, even if it was free with two-year contract? Best Buy is hoping the answer to that question is “yes.”
