The E3 show kicks off Tuesday in Los Angeles, but game companies are already hard at work pushing their wares ahead of the big kick-off. Among them is Valve, who has announced a new chapter in the Counter-Strike saga coming later this summer.
Well, it's not exactly the Half-Life 3 announcement that fans were looking for, but this announcement is still plenty huge. Valve has announced that they are currently working on the next game in the ultra-popular Counter-Strike series.
Let's face facts, your Mac games rock, but your Windows PC-using friends have pointed out some pretty cool mods and expansion packs for their games over the years.
And they WERE pretty cool.
Moving beyond the fact that both Boot Camp and virtualization programs are out there and you could readily switch over to the Windows partition on your Mac or boot a program like Parallels, Fusion or CrossOver and work with game mods that way, we'd like to offer the following five native Mac OS X games with accessible expansions and downloadable levels, the expansion installations ranging from least to most technical.
“Counter-Strike.” The name is legendary for first-person shooter fans, and for the better part of a decade, Counter-Strike has been a compelling reason to game on a Windows computer, or head to your Mac’s Boot Camp partition to get some frags in. Finally, Valve’s Steam digital storefront has brought Counter-Strike: Source to the Mac, even if it means you’ll wind up being killed while fighting. Over and over again.
