There are iPad apps for theme parks, but we've focused on the iPhone and iPod touch ones because we can't think of anything we'd less want to lug around and leave behind while we ride roller coasters than our iPads. While it may be of interest to look at the maps of parks back at the hotel on your big iOS device, it's the pocket-sized ones that are really going to get the work out.
Welcome back to E3 for Day 2! We hope you enjoyed a quick look into the E3 yesterday as we plumbed the depths of the deafening show floor to find a handful of iOS games representing for the Apple gamers. On Day 2 we got to see all kinds of things. From toilet-chairs to a man who looks sort of like Steve Jobs dancing to some techno jams while we saw some 3D software.
Despite having a net worth of $6.1 billion thanks to a long string of wildly popular Apple products (and even more to his ties to Disney), CEO Steve Jobs has only come in at 42 on a new list of the 400 wealthiest Americans.
If you were sick of all those Facebook games showing up in your friend feed, well maybe now you'll be less inclined to "hide" them all. Today, Disney announced that it purchased Playdom, the makers of games like Social City, Sorority Life and Market Street, for $563 Million.
Disney is excited to expand its "already-robust digital game portfolio" and looks forward to providing new games for social networking addicts to click away at during their off time at work. Playdom now has 15 different development studios and the company will keep its headquarters in scenic Mountain View, California, miles away from Apple's Cupertino campus.
We took some time out with Stephen Saiz, Director of Marketing over at Disney Interactive Studios, to discuss what the company is doing with the TRON app for the iPhone and what mega fans of the franchise have to look forward to.
In what can only be described as an acquisition that will move mountains, Tapulous, the makers of addicting games like Tap Tap Revenge, have just been bought by Disney. This is great news for the mobile gaming world, as well as for die hard Disney fans who don't see enough of their favorite character's face in the App Store.
