Gizmodo's reporting that Amazon's probably, maybe, announcing something new September 28. Look, we've got some time until this purported Apple event in October, so we might as well turn our speculation elsewhere for the time being. Like the rest of the internet technology blogs, we're betting that it's a fabulous new Amazon tablet. And it will probably run Android. Because everything that anyone ever makes anymore seems to run Android.

Our good friends at MacTech magazine announced earlier this week that they were expanding their live-events series with new MacTech in-Depth one-day seminars. They already run the successful three-day MacTech Conference for IT Pros and Developers, and one-day MacTech Boot Camp events in cities around the country.
For those who hadn't heard yet, tragedy struck the Foxconn plant in Chengdu, China yesterday. It was being reported that at least two people died in the explosion and 16 were hurt in the blast at the plant. Foxconn is one of Apple's largest contract manufacturers, and Apple is working with Foxconn to understand what caused the event.
