Today, Apple released software updates for both iMovie and iDVD to improve the overall quality and stability of the two applications. The iMovie 9.0.2 update fixes an issue that could cause audio playback to be out of sync and is recommended for all users of iMovie '11, while iDVD 7.1.1 update includes an update that ensures compatibility when sending slideshows from iPhoto '11 to iDVD. You can update your system from the Software Update option in your menu bar or from Apple's official site.
Prior to 2007, Apple was releasing iLife updates annually at Macworld, but they seem to have pushed that back to every year and a half since then. That means it’s about time to cue those iLife ’11 rumors, which could be available in less than two weeks.
Apple appears confident that the DVD is going the way of the dinosaurs, if the recent lack of updates to iDVD (part of the iLife suite) are any indication. But the rumor mill is churning with word that may be changing, taking the software in a new direction.
