Each week, we highlight a selection of the most interesting, exciting, and unique new iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch titles released on the App Store. This week includes the brilliant puzzle platformer Limbo, as well as intriguing originals like Super Paper Pool and 1941 Frozen Front, plus major content additions to popular favorites like Angry Birds, Badland, and Groove Coaster Zero.
This week offered a mix of good and bad news for iOS gaming. On the one hand, former iOS powerhouse Ngmoco announced layoffs, but we got some awesome news to offset that. It looks like old school adventure game superstars Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert could be making a new iOS adventure game funded entirely by Kickstarter users.
This week, we've got the lowdown on one of the best Nintendo DS games of 2011 hitting iOS, as well as an equally interesting game about a gorilla jumping up and down on a ski lift. See, this is exactly why we love iOS gaming. Head past the break to once again marvel at the astonishing diversity of the App Store.
Headlining this week’s cadre of awesome titles is the bizarre Pizza vs Skeletons, a game about a giant pizza squashing things and crushing entire buildings -- which is pretty much the most outstanding concept for a game we’ve ever heard. But that’s not all. We’ve also got details on rComplex, a stellar-looking Canabalt-esque platformer, and Valve’s new Steam iOS app.
After months of waiting we’ve finally got access to awesome fighting-game classic Soulcalibur on iOS. However, we’ve got some major reservations about the state of the final release. However, we’ve got far fewer reservations about the other two awesome-looking games we’re spotlighting this week: JAZZ: Trump’s Journey and Smash Cops.
We’re always fascinated by the amazing diversity of iOS as a gaming platform. Something about the platform pushes developers to create new and completely original experiences, and this week’s selections highlight that theme pretty well, thanks to Infinity Blade II, World of Goo, and Run Roo Run -- a new release about a kangaroo on the loose. And while Hatchi's Tamagotchi-inspired approach isn't exactly original, it certainly is unexpected in 2012!
We're on the tail end of another great week for iOS games, including the new expansion for much-loved card game, Ascension, as well as the new game from the creators of Super Stickman Golf, plus a little indie favorite called Super Crate Box. There’s also some great stuff not too far off on the horizon, including the iOS debut of multiplatform hit Cthulhu Saves the World, along with the amazing-looking Star Marine.
In our latest iOS games news roundup, we're highlighting the recent release of the free expansion/update for top shooter Shadowgun, as well as the debut of the Law & Order: Legacies crossover game and the quick rise and fall of the iMAME emulator app. Flip through the gallery images for more!
Christmas Day is just around the corner, and that means one thing for iOS gamers: lots of new iOS owners. Why is that good news? Because companies are crawling over themselves to get a piece of this massive new influx of gamers. So while you might not see a ton of new games releasing this week, all the best older ones are on sale. Set aside some money this year and stock up on games for the next couple months.
There weren't a ton of news stories for this week's iOS gaming news round up, but there were quite a few stellar games actually released to the App Store. So rather than sticking with the formula, we're going to mix it up a bit this week. In lieu of some ho-hum news stories (and passing over lots of deserving games), we're going to be focusing 100% on games this week. It's one of the best weeks in recent memory, so jump into the gallery and have a look.
