The annual Consumer Electronics Show will invade Las Vegas this week, running from Thursday, January 6 through Sunday, January 9. Although Apple historically doesn’t attend this four-day showcase of digital delight, that doesn’t mean that the rumor mills aren’t churning round the clock leading up to the big event just the same.
Ah, it's that time of the year when the biggest of holidays are past and all that remains are parties, parties, and, of course, Apple Rumors. And since the line up calendar has the iPad up next, that's where the rumor scuttlebutt has landed. And so it begins.
This time last year, the Internet was in overdrive speculating about Apple’s as-yet-unannounced tablet. Flash-forward to a year later, and we’re now distilling rumors about the followup to that groundbreaking device.
So um, remember how it was possibly thought that the upcoming iPad 2 might possibly use an AMOLED display? According to Digitimes, not so much. Apple has ordered the back light units for the next edition of the magical device, and they will reportedly be used in conjunction with LCD displays built by LG and Chimei Innolux.
