Looking to unload your current iPad now that Apple has made its March 7 media event official? Apparently, you’re not alone -- eBay is reporting that trade-ins for Apple’s tablet have increased by ten times over last year.
Well, well, well… what have we here? An invitation to a special Apple media event in San Francisco next Wednesday, March 7 at 10am PST. Sounds to us like a new iPad is incoming, although there are also plenty of rumors about a third-generation Apple TV (not the kind with a display, mind you). But hey, maybe we’ll get some improvements to iTunes Match as well, judging from this “adaptive streaming” report below. Here’s a look at the rest of the day’s tech news for Tuesday, February 28, 2012.
Question: What’s more exciting than an Apple media event announcing a new product? Answer: The actual announcement that finally confirms said event after weeks (or even months) of rumors and speculation. For the next-generation iPad, it appears that day has arrived.
It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that Apple will be releasing the next version of its iPad tablet on March 7 with a high-resolution, 2048×1536 display. Whether its 264 pixels per inch classifies as a true Retina Display is up to critics and Apple’s marketers, but we’re certain it’ll be the most desirable object to come from Cupertino since, well, the iPad 2.
But just because you want one, that doesn’t necessarily mean you should just rush out to hand over another fistful of your hard-earned dollars to Cook & Co. We already know the pros--it’s a new iPad, after all--so lets take a look at some cons the iPad 3’s presumed Retina Display might have.
Some days, it’s fun just to sit back and watch the back and forth as rumors flare to life, only to be snuffed out by the company in question. But sometimes, even that isn’t enough to put out the fire, which is the case with The Daily’s report this morning on an iPad version of Microsoft Office, which Redmond kinda, sorta denies the existence of -- but our readers are probably smart enough to see through that. Catch up on all the details (and plenty more) with our recap for Tuesday, February 21, 2012.
Well, that quiet little sneak, Mountain Lion certainly got people riled up once it showed itself out in the open. It comes in on its quiet cat feet, then suddenly it's on you. Well, we're not complaining. We kinda like turning down the volume once in a while, so we can focus on the heat. And do we have a week's worth of hot for y'all. Of course, with cats.
Another long week in the tech world finally comes to a close, but not before yet another tech blog gets its hands on a secretive Apple component ahead of the actual product introduction. We’ve also got a couple of updates on the Foxconn story to share with you, and plenty more on deck for this Friday, February 17, 2012.
Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Apple Rumour Roundup, Mac|Life’s bi-weekly take on the rumors and speculation surrounding Cupertino. This week, we've got our radar set on the iPad 3. With a launch window set for early next month, the talk about the device has really been heating up. Let’s take a look at a pair of the more interesting rumors that have cropped up recently, both of which come to us courtesy of the Wall Street Journal.
Uh-oh! There’s another product leak out of Apple headquarters, only this time it may be hard to discipline the party who spilled the beans. If you don’t believe us, pull out your iPhone 4S and ask Siri what languages she speaks -- then try to figure out which one doesn’t exist yet.
