Things are getting a bit thin on the ground at Apple's refurb store as the holiday season marches on. That favorite, the Mac mini, always the first off the shelves is out of stock, the only iPads are the pricier models with cellular capabilities, iPod touches only start at the 32GB level. Suffice to say, people are buying Apple this season. But let's see what goodies we can still find under the tree, shall we?
So Black Friday and Cyber Monday came and went, but don't worry — there are still plenty more deals out there, and you won't even have to face the the crowds and clamor of one of the year's busiest shopping days! One thing you can count on is that our weekly deals happen year round and you can always find a great one on any given Thursday, right here. So let's see what this week has to offer.
In the spirit of the season, we're taking on one of our own columns here on Mac|Life and going toe-to-toe, price tag to price tag. There's a great round up of Black Friday deals on our front page today, but let's see if we can beat a few of those deals with some refurb selections. Keep in mind, the Black Friday prices highlighted elsewhere are on new items, whereas refurbs are used products, but Apple-certified and good to go. So if you don't mind used Apples, let the games begin!
They went quickly as usual, the refurb Mac minis. Gone after appearing briefly last week, despite Apple's refresh of the pint-sized desktop. So this week, in their honor, we'll feature other small devices, meaning if you're looking to save money on some iOS products and don't need the very latest model Air, this is the place to save some serious cash and pick up some great products.
The big deal of the week was of course Apple's unveiling of the new iPad Air models, but they also dropped a gorgeous big screen iMac down for us to drool over and then slipped us Yosemite Thursday. With iOS 8.1 set to drop Monday, Apple is pretty much dominating the weekend. Those stories and more of what else happened in Apple news this week.
Assuming Apple is holding the rumored media event next Tuesday, Oct. 22, the media should start receiving invites today, but the rumor mill is abuzz with potential release dates for the hardware expected to be unveiled there.
