There’s something in the air that we can’t quite put our finger on. Could it be the reports of new Apple TV buyers receiving their preorders a day early? Or the new iPad launch kicking off in other parts of the world where it’s already Friday? Perhaps the tingle we’re feeling at every truck that drives past our door, hoping maybe, by some miracle, the new iPad will arrive early as well? It’s probably all of the above, because it’s one of those kind of days… as in, Thursday, March 15, 2012.
It’s new iPad week, and that means the rush is on to grab the first unboxing video, followed soon after by the first actual delivery and so on. You can check that unboxing video off your list -- a new 16GB iPad with 4G LTE has already surfaced in Vietnam, but there’s not a whole lot to see.
Now that we’re officially entrenched in the "post-PC" recvolution, we can officially say goodbye to megahertz (and the myths that go along with them) forever. They might still be a necessary evil on Mac spec sheets, but as the iPad and iPhone competitors have proved, the harmony of the package means much more than a top-of-the-line chip.
Excited about the new iPad? With an A5X processor and amazing new Retina Display, you’d think developers would have their hands full upconverting for the higher resolution -- and there are definitely some awesome apps coming down the pike.
Blasting through a series of product updates and announcements this morning in San Francisco, Apple CEO Tim Cook wasted no time cutting to the chase by announcing what we all wanted to hear: “The new iPad.”
It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that Apple will be releasing the next version of its iPad tablet on March 7 with a high-resolution, 2048×1536 display. Whether its 264 pixels per inch classifies as a true Retina Display is up to critics and Apple’s marketers, but we’re certain it’ll be the most desirable object to come from Cupertino since, well, the iPad 2.
But just because you want one, that doesn’t necessarily mean you should just rush out to hand over another fistful of your hard-earned dollars to Cook & Co. We already know the pros--it’s a new iPad, after all--so lets take a look at some cons the iPad 3’s presumed Retina Display might have.
