If it seems like it's been months since Apple released anything new, it's because it has. With the exception of a MacBook Air refresh in June, nothing new has emerged from Cupertino since last October, when the iPad mini made its debut. But autumn is nearly upon us, which promises to bring a bevy of goodies for the holiday shopping season, not least of all the new iPhone. Or iPhones, as a series of increasingly convincing leaks and rumors have seemingly revealed. With an official unveiling (possibly) on the near horizon, we've pulled together the most believable rumors and reports we've heard so far, and boiled them down to a list of what we're likely see in the coming weeks.
While few outside of Apple's Cupertino headquarters truly know what the company has in store for the iPhone with the rumored September 10 event, at least one analyst weighs in on how things might shake out for a possible family of handsets.
Rumors and leaks are heating up and you know what that means: pure speculation! Fakes! A slowly growing fever pitch of excitement as we get closer and closer to the big day. If the 9/10 predictors are right, we'll be seeing Apple invites pretty soon, but only time will tell. That, and a MacLife columnist goes Android rogue — GASP!!!
Sometimes you want to stay grounded at your desk and this week's Mac refurbs will do the trick at some very nice prices that leave you some walking-around money. Of course, sometimes you need portability, and these brand new MacBooks can fill that void at great prices too. And if you need some accessories, well, you know we've got those to spare.
We're getting closer and closer to Apple's fall event, which means more rumors are cropping up, leaks are making headlines, claimed leaks are competing for news cycle oxygen, and jockeying for a little time on Apple's hobby TV box thingamajig is becoming more interesting. Did you miss any of that this week? Well, climb aboard, kids, because we're gonna do the news in ten.
If BusinessInsider is to be believed, we still don't have any concrete idea as to when the so-called "budget" iPhone will ship, but we at least have a name for it. According to what the publication identifies as an in-the-know source who doesn't actually work for Apple, the long-anticipated phone will be called the iPhone 5C. Here's to hoping that the "C" doesn't just stand for "cheap."
It seems like every week a new rumor (or three) about what Apple may be up to surfaces, but few of them come with the credibility of today's Wall Street Journal report claiming bigger iOS devices could be in the works.
You want to make the grade this week, Apple Refurbs? You have to bring at least $200 savings to this party. We aren't looking at anything lower than big slices off the ticket. So if you're looking to save some serious dough (and you can turn around and get software, cases, accessories, whatever with your savings), then you've come to the right place.
Apple is in hot water with the Chinese again, this time over the death of a 23-year-old woman who died last Thursday after answering her iPhone 5 while it was charging and was allegedly electrocuted as a result.
Rub the long weekend of sleeping in out of your eyes, folks -- it's time to get back to business with a post-holiday recap for our American readers. While the four-day weekend was relatively quiet on the tech front, there were still enough stories brewing for us to scoop up a handful and serve them up to you on this fine Monday, so let's get started as we put the first full week of July behind us...
