We were as excited as the rest of you to finally get our hands on iOS 4.2.1 Monday -- that is, until a simple update on our iPhone 4 went horribly awry and several restore attempts also failed. Before the fear washes over you, read on.
After weeks of speculation, Apple appears to be sidestepping all of the rumors and charting their own path: iOS 4.2 will be released on Monday around 10am PST (1pm EST), and a companion update for the new second-generation Apple TV will finally bring video playback from those devices via AirPlay as well.
Fire up that Software Update app, because iTunes is ready for a tune up. iTunes 10.1 has just been released and it includes the following:
- ability to use AirPlay to wirelessly stream videos from iTunes to the new Apple TV - installation of iOS 4.2 on your iPhone, iPad and/or iPod touch - a number of important stability and performance issues
Tuesdays can be kind of bland during the workweek. Monday just happened, and we're not quite to Wednesday yet. So if your Tuesday was a little on the "so-so" side, hopefully the newest rumor will perk you up a bit. Word is that Apple could be releasing Mac OS X 10.6.5 AND iTunes 10.1 via Software Update tomorrow! Feeling a little bit better, but still need more? How about iOS 4.2 coming out on Friday? That's more like it!
