Pardon me for perpetuating stereotypes here, but I love shopping. Sometimes, I like to keep a browser window open with a pair of good looking designer shoes, or perhaps a page full of sale items, just so that I can dream about having enough disposable cash to blow through a whole rack at Bloomingdale's. But that's just a dream, and most of my shopping is done inside a grocery store, at a farmer's market, or at the drug store down the street from where I live. Fortunately, there are a ton of apps, both online and on a variety of mobile devices, that can aid in finding the best deals, so that I'm always getting more bang for my buck. That, my friends, is the true reward of shopping.
There are some applications that you might not need, but the fact remains that they're free and they can make your life simpler. Well, what we really find that we're lacking in these days is virtual sticky notes. It's hard to get things clipped sometimes without having to install a browser extension or open up another application and paste what we've copied, but we've found some utilitarian clipping apps that are free and help us live our day to day lives by the post it note. Just as we wanted it.
They say that home is where the heart is. So then, if your heart isn't in your home, where is it? Sure, decorating a home is a pricey endeavor, not to mention a stressful one. But when all is said and done, a house that fits your style will only make you feel more comfortable. So, take out those tools, put on your overalls, and use these apps to help you turn your home (or in this editor's case, small studio apartment) into the dwelling of your dreams.
We've caught wind of a myriad of tres cool software updates pushed live today. For starters, your Safari just got a little more safer, which is great when you're navigating an internet filled with hungry lions and angry giraffes. The new update fixes an issue that could prevent users from submitting web forms, as well as another issue that could cause web content to display incorrectly when viewing a Google Image result with Flash 10.1. Oh, that pesky Adobe Flash.
It's back to school time and you know what that means--sales across all department stores nationwide (might we suggest you consider a wardrobe update during this time?), and adorable kids crossing the street with over-sized backpacks, and plenty of gridlock in front of your school. Well, we're not too thrilled about that last part, but what's better than sending your kid off to school with a MacBook, iPhone and iPad loaded with useful apps?
My husband surprised me with an iPad for my birthday, loaded with about 25 apps. However, those apps are now tied to his personal iTunes account on his MacBook, so when I go to sync the iPad with my own MacBook, my iTunes wants to override his apps with the apps that I had previously purchased for my iPhone. I don’t want to do this, so I haven’t synced my iPad yet. Ideally, I would like to merge his apps with my apps. Is there any way?
You might already know Evernote as the ubiquitous note taking application for your Mac, iPhone and iPad that stores everything in the cloud. This morning, the company announced that it's launching the Evernote Trunk, an in-app showcase of integrated products, services and content. It is designed to bring additional funtionality to Evernote users by showing them what sorts of apps they can integrate with their Evernote notebooks.
We’re here to help with a compendium of essential software. It didn’t
come easily--we debated, argued, haggled, and even pleaded to secure a
prized position on this list for our favorite, most useful
applications. But by limiting the software we’re highlighting to 50,
we’ve guaranteed you the best of the best--no Internet spew here. And
by capping the cost of the software we’ve selected at $50, we’ve made
sure you can reasonably buy what you need. You may love your Mac
already, but you’re not gonna believe how much it can do once you load
up even a few of these choice applications.
