A third-person shooter reminiscent of console smash Gears of War, Shadowgun places players in the role of John Slade, a bounty hunter tasked with tracking down evil genius (and all around bad dude) Dr. Edgar Simon. While we can’t give Shadowgun’s plot any points for originality, the title’s gameplay and gorgeous Unity 3-powered graphics more than make up for the story’s derivative nature.
As developers continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible on the iOS platform, we can’t help but feel sorry for the competition -- especially when companies like Madfinger Games are pushing out mobile games which set new standards for graphics, such as this week’s release of Shadowgun.
Videos of a new tablet game have been released showing a new game called Shadowgun running on a Tegra 2-based Android device. In short, the videos are borderline unbelievable as they display near-console quality graphics on a touchscreen tablet. The third-person shooter is likened by the developers to Gears of War and is said to eventually be coming to iOS as well.
