Remember all those stories from years ago about the lengths wealthy Russians went to in order to get their hands on an iPhone? Apparently, Apple has fallen out of favor in the former Soviet country, where Windows Phone is becoming more popular.
It may not be the kind of big, well-promoted event we're used to from Apple, but a report claims Cupertino is heading to Moscow for an iTunes event on Tuesday evening which could finally bring the company's music offerings to Russians.
Believe it or not, Apple’s fanbase extends even to the former Soviet Union, where items like the iPhone have been in high grey market demand since its introduction in 2007. Now, it looks like Russia could get an official Apple Store, smack dab in the middle of Red Square in Moscow.
