This year’s Computex trade show isn’t all about tablets, as Intel proved overnight with an update on its processor plans for the future. They include Ivy Bridge, a next-generation architecture that will power a new class of “no compromise” laptops that look strangely familiar to Apple MacBook Air fans.
The latest MacBook Air models exceeded the expectations of many, although there are plenty of folks still pining for a built-in 3G modem to make the tiny notebook a true rival for cheaper netbooks. If a recent Apple survey is any indication, Cupertino might just be paying attention to those wishes.
If Apple’s competitors need a reminder of what an uphill struggle they face trying to dethrone the iPad, look no further than some new figures from analysts showing that the iPad is being adopted by buyers faster than many other popular consumer electronics, including the DVD player.
It wasn't too long ago that everyone was trying to figure out exactly what the iPad was. Was it a media device, a large iPod touch, or a netbook replacement? Well, according to one analyst, the latter is the correct answer.
While Google’s Chrome OS has been commonly associated as a better platform for netbook computers, it now appears that the company intends to butt heads with Apple on their latest turf, the iPad.
