Although the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show wrapped up in Las Vegas a week ago, the event left a busy five business days in its wake this week with new products, updates and lots of stuff for us to recap. And hey, the month of January is already half over now, which means there's even more cool stuff on the way... so without further ado, let's dive in so we can get on to the weekend festivities!
Google has been a busy little bee this week, finding time to add an activity stream view to Google Drive as well as data compression and Google Translate to the mobile Chrome browser (see below) in between acquiring companies like Nest. But that last move has also raised the threat level for many distrustful of the company whose mantra was once "Don't be evil" — a policy we'll try to stick to with today's recap.
Apple's latest iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c will finally launch on China Mobile this Friday after years of rumors and speculation about when Cupertino will nab a deal with the world's largest wireless carrier. While the iPhone maker certainly isn't pinning all of its hopes and dreams on one carrier in one country, China Mobile could be the quickest shot in the arm in the war against Android we've ever seen. While we're waiting to see how many handsets are sold this weekend, check out our Tuesday recap!
Even as Ashton Kutcher's portrayal of Steve Jobs fades from our memory, writer Aaron Sorkin is said to have finally delivered his own take on the late Apple co-founder in-between seasons of The Newsroom, which Sony is expected to put into production sometime in the future. So who will play Jobs in the big-budget official adaptation of the Walter Isaacson bio? It's never too early to speculate...
If the date on the calendar yesterday rang a bell but you couldn't quite place it, that's probably because Thursday was January 9 -- the fateful day when Apple CEO Steve Jobs stepped onto a Macworld keynote stage and introduced the iPhone to the world in 2007. The device is still going strong seven years later, and today's recap offers up one more way to use the latest iPhone 5s, so read on!
This year's Consumer Electronics Show winds down today in Las Vegas, but there are still plenty of new products and services to talk about, including a few featured in our Wednesday recap. But we have a feeling that 2014 will have plenty more to offer in the days, weeks and months ahead, so stay tuned to this channel and we'll keep dishing out whatever tech companies have to throw at us!

Couldn't make the show this year? No worries, we'll give you the rundown on the hottest stories, right now!
This year's Consumer Electronics Show may be heating up the Las Vegas desert this week, but a big chunk of the country is buried under subzero temperatures unfit for either men or mice. But that doesn't mean there aren't any shiny new gadgets or tech news to talk about... why, just keep reading on and get a heaping helping in our Tuesday recap!
It's our final overnight recap before the holiday break, which just so happens to also be our last one of the year as well. The MacLife.com crew will be indulging in egg nog and spending some well-deserved time with the family over the next week and a half, but we won't be back with another recap until Monday, January 6 -- by which point the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show will be kicking off, and there should be plenty of new stuff for all! Until then, happy holidays to all and a big ho-ho-ho to go!
The new Mac Pros are here! The new Mac Pros are here! That is, for those who can afford them. Um, who do we talk to about a raise around here...?
