Apple's push notification system has certainly been a great utility on our iPhones to help us stay abreast of the latest news, sports scores, tweets, Facebook status updates and the like. However, if you happen to have a string of them right in a row, it can get to be a bit of a mess. Apple reportedly has taken notice and could be aiming to release a new notification system for iOS.
In the wake of the tsunami of iPad related rumors and news both before and after it was unveiled in late January, new rumors about the next iPhone have been scarce by comparison. But that may be about to change, with various sources reporting that multitasking will finally come to the iPhone with the next major software update.
Facebook cultists were no doubt overjoyed when the 3.0 version of their iPhone app was updated awhile back, but one major oversight in that otherwise excellent release has finally been rectified with today’s 3.1 update.
Apple began testing of the much-anticipated push notification system this week with developers, and now screenshots are beginning to surface that show us how the alerts will work and the settings that control them.
