Apple is used to having its successful products copied into Chinese knock-offs, but now they’ve gone one step too far -- actually duplicating an entire Apple retail store, right down to the signage and familiar shirts worn by the employees, despite the company’s own effort to launch much cooler stores there.
Only in the Apple world do we get excited about Apple employees not receiving any time off, because more often than not, it usually means something big is on the way. Tough gig, right? Retail employees were reportedly told to not take any time off between May 20 and 22. What could be on the way? It does so happen that Apple retail stores will be celebrating their 10th anniversary. Tossing aside rumors of a delay, Apple has officially confirmed that the iPad 2 will debut in 25 more countries this Friday, March 25 as originally scheduled -- which probably won’t make frustrated would-be buyers in this country any happier.
It was almost to be expected, right? The original iPad launch saw inventory run out rather quickly, and online order shipping times didn't exactly come down until last summer as Apple upped the pace to replenish supplies. It appears that the iPad 2's launch this weekend is going the way of its predecessor, as the only model left at Apple's Fifth Ave store today was the $829 Verizon 3G model.
