Now this is a dish best served cold. As you may or may not have noticed, we spent the weekend in somewhat muggy, sometimes sunny San Diego braving the crowds inside the San Diego convention center so that you didn't have to. Here's a quick walkthrough of booths we admired, and things like soon-to-be-released toys and peripherals in honor of the upcoming movie TRON, dozens of designer toys, lifelike dolls, and a kid dressed up as Jamie Hyneman. Also, be sure to check out our quick walkthrough of Comic Con on day one and day two, and our stay at Flynn's Arcade.
If you like online MMOs, you might be interested to know that City of Heroes is releasing an all new expansion pack later this summer. It's called "Going Rogue" and your player will be able to start out a neutral character and gradually choose his side as he gains levels. The game is available on August 17th. Check out the video below for a quick look into the game's storyline and gameplay.
It's day two of Comic Con and our shoes are already in need of new treading. Not to mention, it's pretty crowded in that convention center. Fortunately, we got some pretty neat photos out of it, so check them out!
If you love Legos, then maybe you've heard about the upcoming Massively Multiplayer Online game, Lego Universe, currently in development by NetDevil. The game takes place in an alternate universe with tons of Lego minifigures who are on the path to seek the last bit of pure imagination. The antagonists in this virtual world are the Stromlings, who are controlled by a dark force known as Maelstrom, and who can turn innocent minifigures to the bad side. The game is officially available to play on October 26 of this year. Check it out in the video below!
We took some time out with Stephen Saiz, Director of Marketing over at Disney Interactive Studios, to discuss what the company is doing with the TRON app for the iPhone and what mega fans of the franchise have to look forward to.
This morning, we go to hang out in Flynn's Arcade and relive the magic of TRON. Check out the mondo photo gallery after the cut to get a complete walkthrough of our day with TRON, plus a few photos of TRON himself, Bruce Boxleitner (who, by the way, loves his iPhone).
We've only been here for a short time, but already we've seen so much! Take a look at some of the photos we've managed to snap on our quick walk through the convention hall this morning, and stayed tuned for more photos later--and some videos, too!
In honor of Comic Con, we've put together a list of some of the finest comic viewing apps this side of Gotham City. Sift through these timeless apps and desktop software to fully immerse your inner comic book geek, and then shy away when your friends stare are you with disdain for professing you have human super powers because you were bitten by a mosquito. Then again, they're probably just doing so because a human-mosquito combo doesn't sound very frightening, now does it?
This weekend, we're heading south to sunny San Diego to rub elbows with the legions of eccentric fans at Comic Con International. Our Associate Online Editor, Florence Ion, will be there this weekend to check out all the heroes in disguise, and the fans disguised as their heroes. Stay tuned to the site for our own coverage of the comic book and entertainment industries, including interviews with your favorite comic book and app publishers and video sneak peeks at this year's hottest upcoming iPhone and Mac games. Plus, we'll be back with a recap of the whole thing, so it'll be just like you were there!
On Monday, we got a chance to chat via email with the Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Business Development for DC Entertainment at Warner Bros., John Rood. He took some time out from prepping for this week's Comic Con activities to tell us a little bit about the DC's plans for the iPad, and where the comic book industry may be heading now that there are new mediums to digitally distribute their titles.
