Rumors have been circulating for some time that we'll see an update to the Apple TV, but today marks the first appearance of what looks like proof that a hardware refresh is on the way. As 9to5Mac notes, it's a simple thing, really--an inconspicuous mention of "AppleTV 4,1" found buried in the framework for the existing Apple TV's AirPlay connection features. That designation corresponds to no existing models, which means in all likelihood it refers to a new device entirety.
A funny thing happened at Google's I/O keynote yesterday. While everyone was expecting a new tablet and Android update designed to escalate its war with iOS, which Google delivered, it also pulled a page from Apple's playbook and released a "one more thing" of sorts--a stunning, high-priced luxury device that everyone wants to hold in their hands.
TiVo has released version 2.8.1 of their Desktop Software. In addition to just a few new settings, the software adds export support for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. This update affects both Basic and Plus versions of the TiVo Desktop Software, but only the Plus version gets the added export options.
