With the App Store getting ready for the annual holiday break at the end of the year, developers are going crazy with the discounts. We've got some seriously big name titles and some big name houses slashing prices deep and often across the board, so let's stop wasting time and get right to it, because some of these will be gone before you know it.
Each week, we highlight a selection of the most interesting, exciting, and unique new iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch titles released on the App Store. Disney sequel Where's My Water? 2 makes the biggest splash due the series' enduring popularity, but the week is otherwise largely dominated by fresh fare like first-person shooter Dead Effect, the camera-enabled Go Dance, and charming low-key puzzler Strata.
Despite its wide catalog of beloved characters, Disney’s mobile games (like the great Where's My Water?) have often introduced their own leads created especially for each game. The company's latest such entry is Mittens, a physics-based puzzle-platformer starring that favorite of Internet obsessions: Cats. Mittens is strung together by adorable animated cutscenes, which show the irascible titular feline attempting to woo a prissy purple kitty. Every time Mittens tries to give her a gift, she inevitably grows distracted by some other potential sign of affection. As a result, each set of stages introduces a new target gift to win her heart, like milk, balloons, and chocolates.
