Apple's iPhone Bumpers are doing surprisingly well. Shipping is actually delayed for several colors, including pink, orange, blue and white--which we can't help assuming is because of Apple's decision to omit the white iPhone 4 from its debut date. The colored Bumpers won't be shipping until July 16th, though the black Bumpers will be readily available come June 24th.

Apple Sells More Than 600,000 Pre-Orders

Apple has released a statement on its official website stating the following:

Yesterday Apple and its carrier partners took pre-orders for more than 600,000 of Apple’s new iPhone 4. It was the largest number of pre-orders Apple has ever taken in a single day and was far higher than we anticipated, resulting in many order and approval system malfunctions. Many customers were turned away or abandoned the process in frustration. We apologize to everyone who encountered difficulties, and hope that they will try again or visit an Apple or carrier store once the iPhone 4 is in stock.

Tuesday was admittedly a crazy day for both Apple and AT&T, as pent-up demand for the iPhone 4 crushed both companies’ servers and even sent the telco’s retail outlets to pen and paper to collect pre-orders. One more sinister element of the day’s insanity is the rumored security breaches on AT&T’s website, which the company is now said to be looking into.

As you’ve know doubt heard by now, the iPhone 4 is off to a rocky start, with pre-orders sold out most everywhere, including Apple’s website and AT&T. But the partners in crime are laughing all the way to the bank, it would seem, as a new report claims the pent-up demand for the iPhone 4 is as much as 10 times larger than the previous model.

The iPhone 4 pre-orders started today, and as expected, it's total AT&T network chaos. Would-be iPhone owners are frustrated with Apple's pre-order page and with the inability to verify their account with AT&T.

To add insult to injury, no white iPhones. Ray's sad.

We feel like we are at a baseball game and the score is AT&T four, and the rest of us, a big fat zero. We are four for four in failed iPhone launches with AT&T appearing to be the one to blame once again. The day started off badly and it doesn't look like things are going to get better any time soon as iPhone 4 customers continue to complain about not being able to pre-order Apple's latest iPhone.

God bless those rumors, they were right on the mark yet again. Although the online Apple Store is down at this writing after being crushed by overnight iPhone 4 and updated Mac mini orders, an official Apple Store app has indeed appeared in the App Store and is available to download now.
