I need a bag that would carry my iPad in tyPad case plus the keyboard dock (just in case) and then the necessary cords to plug it in, a notebook and some writing implements.

I prefer messenger bags because an array of items can be visualized. It is easier to find small bits in what would otherwise be a tangled vertical mass within a backpack.

Currently I am lugging around a giant Adidas backpack to hold my 15' macbook pro, calculus textbook and related paraphernalia, chargers, itouch, and Rubiks cube. I am a backpack person, and the stuff in it rocks! Yay iRig, that would be so much fun :)

I currently have a Crumpler backpack which holds my MacBook Pro 17", all of my photography gear, cell phone, thumb drives, external drive and the power cables and extra cables needed for all my gear. I travel to the Middle East a lot for work and find that once I arrive I just want a bag for my MacBook, cables/cords, cell phone and other smaller odds and ends. When I get back to the states after my current tour I plan on getting the iPad so that'll fit nicely in any bag!

This bag looks like "It's the one". You buy so many other bags thinking this is the one to suit my needs when after a week you realize it's not. Everyone needs a bag to fit his or her MacBook ,iPad and maclife magazine comfortly. The green one would be my choice

I have a hand me down, probably 12 years old, without a label. Huge black mammoth thing about the size of a kindergartener. It's held up through mould, sweaty teenager gym clothes, a small acid incident, and being patched back together with thread, duct tape and super glue. Amazingly, none of the zippers got stuck, its smell isn't quite lethal, and it can still carry 9 lbs of text books, a MacBook, and the layer of detritus that's formed in the bottom. Still haven't found those headphones I put in there in grade 10...

I use a crumpled bag for my photo gear. I think this backpack their giving away is nice.

Definitely the Crumpler is the way I would go in order to fit my MacBook Pro, iphone, cords and plugs, plus the various notebooks and papers I carry around. The crumpler is way cool, and I really love that grid-it organizer! Just think how neat and tidy all those extras would be kept with that thing- and it would all fit right in the Crumpler bag!

i love the purple one!! i would totally keep my macbook and my 3 external harddrives in there.

I carry a Timbuk2 bag that I found at Sierra Tradingpost. I spent probably about 2 months trying different bags before I arrived at the Timbuk2 Track backpack. I really like most of the Timbuk2 bags and this one seemed to fit my needs at the time. I have carried it everyday to and from work and on several trips. In it is my MacBook Pro 15", the power supply, a remote, dvi to vga adapter, magic mouse, and my iphone connector. A copy of Snow Leopard just in case, a 250 GB external hard drive, headphones, 3 moleskines, a couple of magazines, a copy of the TextMate book, 3 8GB usb keys, and the random selection of pens and pencils. It is nice to "be prepared". I especially like the "Grid-IT" organizer. I will have to get one if I don't win.

Thanks,
Joe

The green Messenger Bag would be my choice. I carry my life in my bag from my 13" MacBook Pro, 160 GB iPod, multiple hard drives and thumb sticks to my passports and frequent flyer cards, hotel rewards program cards and of course it would not be complete with a four finger holder for some tasty stogi's.

I have a huge backpack and it just weighs too much. I would like the synapse.

avatar

I love the Crumpler bag! I travel 4 days per week for work so I could keep EVERYTHING in that bag.

The SYNAPSE bag looks like tha snizz! I would wear-out this bag! Looks hip and Tom Bihn is known for durability. I would proudly rock this bag at all the hot spots!

avatar

Kicooi

The green back-pack is really nice. All the gear inside sounds geek-alicouse! Just the way I like it! Backpacks forever!!

I have purchased about 20 various bags over the lifetime of my Mac laptops beginning with my old black 520 (I think) to my new MacBook Pro. I loved my old bag but it wasn't big enough for my 15" Pro. I carry everything in my bag from my iPhone to hard drive, Flip, regular camera, cables, chargers, iPod. I need lots of room and ways to organize.

avatar

Mattster

...My favorite bag above would be the Tom Bihn bag. (I love the green one featured in the December issue.)
...My favorite bag that I own is my Ralphs paper grocery bag. On any given day, with the extra support of an outer Ralphs plastic grocery bag, I can carry my macbook, a smattering of wireframes I have been sketching out for my new website, a pack of gum and a Subway footlong sandwich

avatar

scraiger

My favorite bag is the backpack style. I think it's easier to carry and move around with. As to what I carry in it... I think it would be easier to list what I DON'T carry in it. Everything from my laptop, multiple memory sticks, a camera, my ipod, and a million other things. Plus the material for whatever project I'm working on at the time. I Wouldn't know what to do without it!

avatar

I have a classic Timbuk2 laptop messenger bag -- very classy, in burgundy and gray. I can carry my MacBook Pro and its power cord, my iPad (and the Apple wireless keyboard), my iPhone, a universal charger for the portable devices, my digital camera, a small purse, papers and reports, keys, pens, lip gloss/concealer/mascara, a comb... Geez, so much stuff.

And it's SO heavy, and I'm so small...5'2" on a good day. I wonder if I'd be better off with a backpack, and then I can let my two sons (both a head taller than me) fight over the Timbuk2 bag.

I am using New PC Day pack from Porter. Nice crafted backpack from Japan. Been using it for the past 3 or 4 years now. Think I will change a new one soon.

I like the green backpack.

I love the purple one it is so awesome.

avatar

brannman27

I like the orange messenger bag.

avatar

Motherofpearls

I'd like to try the messenger bag. Looks like it'll hold my Macbook, iPad, files, & other stuff for teaching. The goodies in it look great, too! I currently use either a Kelty backpack or a Vy and Elle sleeve, depending on how much I need to carry...middle ground would be great.

avatar

MonstrumRexRegis

I currently have a Marmot messenger bag that's just about worn out. I think that Crumpler, Moderate Embarrassment Messenger Bag and all the goodies that come along with it, looks just like what the doctor ordered to handle what I need to do. Right now my bag houses my 15" MacBook Pro, Intuos4, External HD, sketchpad, notepad, USB drives, a couple magazines (Mac|Life included, of course.) cables, keys and various other implements of mass creation. I think it would be a perfect fit for travel, meeting with clients, or just day-to-day use.

My favorite bag is now my Gracie Jiu jitsu bag. It's huge and has many little zipper pockets to put my essential oils, sheets for massage therapy, macbook, iphone etc. It is TOO big unfortunately, and everything slides around making it all a jumbled mess. I used to have a SwissArmy bag but it wore out too soon! Would like something made for all the accessories I carry from Mac.

avatar

MedicJames

My favorite bag of all time is a Kenneth Cole Reaction bag that I bought in college. Stylish and it holds my medic stuff, as well as my ipad and macbook without being too bulky.

Out of the two that were featured in MacLIFE, the Crumpler bag looks like a GREAT replacement for my current bag. Love the colors and style :-)

iPad, iPhone4, iPod Touch4g, 120 gb iPod Classic, Mac Book1g, extra charged battery, Skull Candy FMJ with mic, Skull Candy Pipe, Alu Pen Stylus, pens, markers, pocket knife, bottle of water, apple, banana, 2 Cliff Bars, coffee canister, protien shake, and gum go with me to work everyday on my bike. Currently use a tattered Timbuk2 Messenger and hopefully can replace it with the ka orange messenger here. Backpacks are for suckers.

avatar

skinterra21

I definitely like the orange messenger bag and would use it to transport/carry my Ipad, Iphone, laptop, and various other IT gadgets that I use on a daily basis

I would totally get rid of my black-white flowered tote if I had that backpack. Looks very versatile, keeps hands free and distributes the weight over both shoulders. And, it's not TOO big!

I already own a pretty sweet STM Backpack for my MBP! However, is is there anything wrong with having a Messenger Bag as well! I figure if women can have multiple purses to fit any occasion, why can't a guy have multiple laptop bags to hold his favorite Apple Products! I am sure that a messenger bag will hold my MBP, iPhone, iPod, headphones and miscellaneous cables. I wonder if there will still be room for my trusty Mac Magazine - MacLife? We will see!

A recyclable shopping bag to carry two sets of headphones a 13 inch macbook pro an ipad and two textbooks and a pencil case please help me
I really like the messenger bag

the purple bag for the baltimore ravens! I would keep my macbook, cables for djing, a mouse, my ipod, and my cell phone.

Chocolate Lifesaver

Love the Orange Bag! Made well, sturdy, washable and versatile for all the travel needs for business, school, or just pleasure.
I would keep my macbook, or ipad in it depending on if it was for business or pleasure. Cables and chargers, headphones, and magnetic media for sharing or copying as needed. notebooks for when firing up the electronics is just not practical, and a trusty bottle of water as well. I have even put an overnight change of clothing in one of these before and for a female that says volumes on the space in these bags.

So, if you need one or want one, don't wait to win one, buy one for you and if you win one, share it with someone you love.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! LOL Happy Thanksgiving all, we have a lot to be thankful for and part of it is being able to post what we can say aloud and still be free to do so.

I like the lavender bag, because, it is my favorite color and who would want to steal it! LOL Whatever color you choose, it doesn't matter, they all look good!
WHAT I Keep in it would depend one where I am going. Meetings would require macbook, any hand outs and my gear (iphone, head gear, battery backup and media in case I get request for information to leave with my client or student.
If I was going on a holiday, you bet still macbook, and media to play with, iphone, and battery back up for both. The nice thing about the case is the many compartments to keep all your cables, and delicate peripheral equipment organized and safe. Additionally it is streamlined so nicely that it will fit nicely under the seat to make whatever you have in it accessible to you during your travel.
Best of all, it is stylish and would be nice as the color is soothing and the last trip I took it worked out well since there was a few delays that day due to out of the ordinary things happening. So, for that reason, it is important to consider what you pack, wear and how you present yourself and these bags cook, they are so nice. So, if you win one, great, but if you don't, go get one. These will last for years and are washable to keep the looks at the 10's.

I like the backpack! I'd probably put my MacBook Pro in it, my iPod Touch, my mouse, a notebook, and a couple of books

I would be proud to use either of these two cool bags. Thanks for the contest.

I like the messenger bag! It would be great for my iPad, iPhone, iPod and all the accessories! What a great Xmas gift it would make.

avatar

I have a re-usable grocery bag with lots of yummy groceries. And an iPod.

avatar

I love the purple bag - I would use it to carry my MacBook Pro, iPad, and Macbook Air while out on Tech Requests. Working for a school district, that bag would be my right hand man!!!

avatar

Crumpler FTW! So much more stylish!

PS: currently Targus user.

avatar

JohnWMarshall

I currently use a leather Targus traditional leather notebook bag to house my 17" MacBook Pro and all its accessories. It is very practical and holds everything I need, but it is bulky, heavy and a little nerdy looking ... need to upgrade to something more trendy

Bought my wife one of the purple backpacks and she loves it. I would use the messenger bag for my Macbook Pro, extra battery, iPhone charger, ethernet cable, laser pointer, USB drive, pen and iPad.

Have an old Eddie Bauer Bag with only one large pocket. Everything gets lost in there. Need a new backpack with a lot of cool pockets to keep my stuff organized.
