I would pick the purple bag because it would be a gift for my wife and she loves purple!

Give me those shiny bags! Give me them bags!

the Green Bag looks good, should do well w/ the organizer case

The favorite bag that I own is a Kata DR467 which holds my Mac Book Pro along with my Nikon Camera
and 2 lenses. Other accessories in the bag are a SB900 flash and various compact flash cards and filter sets and an iPod touch 8 Gig. (I should have sprung for the 32, ran out of space!) The bag that I really want is the Synapse BackPack! All of the the goodies that come with it are nice but all that I really want is that awesome iRig guitar cable! Jam your guitar through your iPod.......Now thats sick!

My fab bag is my paintball bag. Gotta have my spider victor and paint grenades on me at all times ;)

i use a computer bag designed by Samsonite and it works well for most of my travels, especially when i fly. my only complaint is the lack of bi directional zippers for all of the compartments. and i carry my lap top and peripherals every where !

My favorite is the swiss gear carbon backpack. It has loads of pockets/compartments. It's nicely designed for my mac pro series 15". It also has a compartment specially designed for an ipod or mp3, which I don't have. I've had it for a while, and the durability is amazing. It can weigh you down a bit when you have it packed, but it doesn't really bother me. The zippers tend to get stuck at times when you zip them up quick, but it isn't really a nuisance. I keep the mac pro series and, sometimes, my phone inside. I also have a mobile power adapter and a pc card I keep inside. I don't really pack it down unless I'm traveling, so it's usually light and full of extra space. It's a great bag!

My Tumi shoulder bag carries all the necessary gear for my Macbook Pro. I can also stash an iPod, headphones, folders, and a water bottle. Great bag but always room for another!

avatar

Crickets

The Crumpler bag is my favorite between the two. I carry my Macbook, books/notebooks, Seagate HD, iPod Touch, headphones, various cables and assorted junk in my backpack.

I have an iLugger that can carry my 19" white iMac

I love the purple backpack - just what I need in grad school :)

Right now I use either a cheesy PCConnection black laptop briefcase for our Macbook, or a nice North Face Recon day pack with lots of practical pockets and reservoirs. I like to carry everything but the kitchen sink, so I'm often a bit overburdened. A smaller messenger bag would encourage me to simplify. I like that. The orange and green Moderate Embarrassment messenger bag's the one for me! I'd have a much tidier sleeve solution for our macbook; nice! The accessories look fantastic. All the members of our family would be begging to use this bag. It'd be a family affair!

My favorite bag is actually a Crumpler. I recently got to go spend some time in Melbourne for work, and took my favorite bag with me. It wasn't until I pulled it out to use it that I realized the irony of taking a Crumpler bag to the home of Crumpler! Just funny.

I have a Crumpler messenger bag and a couple of camera bags, because I love them.

I definitely need the crumpler messenger bag. As an architectural designer, I carry most all of the things shown there plus a flash light, tape measure, scales, tracing paper and a multitude of pens and pencils. At the very least the grid it organizer will find its way into my current 12 year old lands end bag. Here's hoping mac life sends me an early christmas present. Everyone in my office is jealous of my mac book pro...hopefully they can soon be jealous of what keeps its safe and organized.

I currently use a swiss gear backpack to carry my macbook and accessories as well as books and paper I need to grade.

avatar

FluffyNickel

Right now I use my trusty Oakley icon backpack. It's perfect for carrying everything I need for school as well as having a dedicated spot to put my MacBook pro.

avatar

vetteguy93

The gray & green bag would be an awesome upgrade to my dingy old black canvas bag. Of course my Macbook Pro and all its necessary accessories would have to toted along. The bag might even bring my styling up to the current century. Hope to win!

I use two bags, depending on task and agenda. First is an admittedly well worn USAF/GSA STANDARD ISSUE olive drab helmet bag. My upscale bag is a SKOOBA bag. If I was to win this contest, I think the backpack and "all the stuffing" would be my choice.

Hey, i like the purple Tom Bihn bag best. I like to carry all my things (MacBook, iphone, ipad, Memory sticks, DVD, CD, batteries, career magazines, condoms) I think the Bihn bag is cool and it looks big enough.

avatar

jacobp89

Right now, I have a huge Swiss Gear backpack. It easily holds my Macbook Pro, a C++ programming book, a Visual Basic programming book, two binders for course work, charger (if I decide to bring it that day), pens, and water bottle on the side. It still has plenty of room if I need to carry anything else with me that day for class. It also holds my ipod touch in the top compartment with a hole for headphones to come out of.

prefer the messenger bag.

I would carry Mac Book pro, Ipod, Iphone, keys , wallet , magazines.

I like the backpack. We travel a lot and I take my MacBook Pro. I currently use a Incase. It barely has enough room for the laptop, harddrive and various cables. I like to take reading material with me and it doesn't really have the room. (That means no ability to take my Mac Life mags)

I like the backpack. We travel a lot and I take my macbook pro along with various cables and a WD harddrive. I currently use an Incase and it works fine but I also like to take reading material too.(like my current issue of Mac Life.)

I carry an Oakley AP 3.0 Pack. In the top external pockets, I carry my 160gb iPod classic, dock cable, and earbuds. Left top pocket is my BlackBerry car charger and wall charger; left bottom is my Tom Tom XXL GPS; Right top is empty for whatever, right bottom is my 15"MBP wall charger and extension with european adapter; front pocket is misc cables, and inside is the 15"MBP, iPad wrapped in OtterBOX, and digital camera.

That's it! Love my Oakley backpack because it carries all with room for more!

avatar

triple_j

i like the synapse backpack. its awesome and can carry all my books and apple products.

I have a Bihn Brain Bag with a MacBook Pro, Lacie Rugid hard drive, cables, iPod, and 2 textbooks. The Nihn backpack would be wonderful.

For the past year and a half I've been sporting an REI Traverse 30 backpack, and although it looks cool and all I haven't seen a trail in about ten years. This pack does have a lot of pockets but it is definitely not designed to carry either my Mac Book or my Ipad, and I have to toss my cables or external drive into the main compartment where they jiggle around. I also carry my Lumix Panasonic camera as well as my wallet, glasses, medicine, and the occasional stack of never ending (10 years now) divorce files..........kill me now!

So I've been thinking that a messenger bag might work well for easy access. That's my story, too much? Ok fine.

Hi MacLife. Been a reader of the hardcopy (I know...I know) for years. Nice review of the bags. I would love to have that backpack. My Swiss Gear bag was stolen a few months back. Luckily there wasn't much in it at the time! I've been using a lame 'O Jansport bag that was my daughter's ever since. I commute to a college campus every weekday, and this bag has to carry a lot; my trusty iBook G4 (I know...I know), charger, ethernet cable, iPod Touch, buds, CompTIA study guide, pens/pencils, keys, lunch bag and munchies, umbrella, water bottle, hat and gloves (it's cold in Minnesota!) Trust me, it would be thoroughly used.

I am currently using a starter sports bag. I haven't been able to settle on one bag that does all i need. i have my macbook, ipod classic, portable drive, cables 4-5 paperbacks. Notebooks and whatever junk i thought I needed yesterday.

avatar

I have a Grey LeSportsac messenger that I absolutely love. I keep all my gadgets and must-haves in it - for instance, my Metrocard, Beats, Game Informer, MacLife (of course:), iPad, PSP and any other misc item I might need that day. Oh Yeah, Burt's Bee Lip Balm and Lush Therapy Bar. . . Especially.

The vote from this nerdy granny goes to the Messenger bag from Crumpler, what a great carry on for the plane. It's stylish, totally epic, and will fit all my accessories including my iPad. That Grid It Organizer is really cool, I haven't seen that before and am plagued with all those bits and pieces of equipment which can get jumbled together. If Harry Potter had had all this he would have vanquished Voldemort in a trice.

avatar

racjaa

ok, this is embarassing but I use my daughters castoff school bag for my laptop along with my extra long chord a dozen pencils with no tips and a couple of pens that don't write. I also keep a pack of gum and an apple and some old newspapers that I havent read yet. Yes, I do go thru laptops faster than most. I do like the timbuk2 bag because its big and I need space for all the important stuff I need to carry with me

avatar

kreizboi

My 8 year old bag finally gave up on me. I know these bags can hold me up the same good amount of time, if not more, than the last one.

avatar

richerich

I've Got Baggage ! Green Backpac baggage to be exact. Take me or leave me, I'm keeping my GreenBackpack with My Macbook Pro, iPad, iPhone and all my Apple accessories.

avatar

anon99

I like the backpack... because I don't have one and need one. Better in green in the Dec. mag than this purple...

avatar

scottrice98

I wish I had a good bag, but right now I just have a mix of adequate bags that I use to get around. The best is probably the one I got from work to carry around my 17" MacBook Pro, but even that one is just ok. So either of these bags would be a huge upgrade.

avatar

poisonsix9

I really like the purple bag! Lots of pockets and space to carry all my favorite tech toys and more.

avatar

joshed2

love crumpler bags. great that they don't look like traditional laptop bags, and are constructed well. they are versatile, i keep all my necessary gear in them, including a few overnight items when necessary!

avatar

dknoerns

The Synapse bag looks like it can handle my Macbook Pro, power accessories, portable firewire drive and all my misc. items for service calls and/or band practice!

avatar

Swish22743

The green one looks pretty sick! I don't have a bag unfortunately but I do carry a laptop and the iPhone 4! I also carry the Mac Life magazine as well since you never know when you will need it. I carry headphones and phone charger and many other things! This is why I should get a bag I guess... Hah

avatar

Mom2Ari

Ahh, I would put all of my handy dandy Apple devices and their cables in the backpack -- MacBook, iPod Touch -- and a few necessary items to keep my 2 year-old happy too. For instance a copy of the book, "Everyone Poops", a box of crayons with sketch paper and a Yo-Yo. And to keep me even happier...a few of my ukulele music books!

avatar

Christian Kaff

I would LOVE to have a new bag!! I would take it to school every day, and carry my valuables in it everywhere I go! :) I found this contest while reading Mac|Life at school, so it would also be perfect to carry the latest edition in! :D

avatar

cbaldwin24

I like the concept of a backpack replacement for my laptop bag, but the Crumpler messenger bag is hip. Besides, who can resist the LaCie keys, the Ego drive, the P-Flip iPhone battery and those awesome Etymotic ear buds. I'm for the Messenger.

avatar

Maddog 1

The purple one will hold my Macbook and iPad. It will also hold the accessories.

avatar

sg07

Right now,I'm using my Swiss gear bag and I keep my Mac pro, important documents and some stationary in it.

avatar

The green Tom Bihn is the backpack of choice. Besides the macbook pro I carry my stenograph with tripod, iPhone4, Livescribe pen with notebook, various bluetooth adaptors for hardware, Shure SE 530 headphones, computer locking cable, keys, various ID/cards/cash, a Sony e-book reader, PSP, and Martel omni-mic. with an iRiver MP3 recorder. Backpack weighs 25 pounds with all this gear and it's a great workout carrying it around wherever I go.

avatar

Piro

I would take this bag, all the accessories, my iPad and mb air and travel the world documenting my whereabouts daily.
