I currently use a Timbuk2 messenger bag. It is really roomie for my MBP, cables, books, and other gear but it is not great on the organizational side. One big compartment and a simi spacious zipper compartment is where all my loot goes. I was just searching online yesterday for a new bag. Now I no longer have to search as MacLife will be giving me my next bag! Thanks gang!

That messenger bag is perfect: enough room for a portable hard drive, a digital camera, all the cables I can't live without, AND my backissues of MacLife for reading on the plane!

My LIFE is in my bag! Everything from the obvious stuff (wallet, ID, other basic essentials) plus my MacBook, extra travel mice, multiple cords, USB drives (which always get lost in there), a travel snack (granola bars), and (finally) various books and work documents. Currently, I am using a regular tote that I bought at Target. It's OK - but I always feel like the handles are going to break off at any minute and "my life" will end up strewn out on the pavement. WOULD LOOOVE THAT ORANGE AND GREEN MESSENGER BAG! It looks well made and like it could carry everything necessary for my life.

Messenger bags rock!

This would be awesome to put my macbook into and has awesome accessories that I would use every day!
This would be amazing to keep my charger and current iPhone 4 Accessories in.

I carry around a macbook pro, reading glasses, earphones, and piles of books and papers. The purple backpack looks like it would be strong enough for my 40 pounds of materials.

My backpack, usually with some combination of the following: macbook pro, a couple calculators, power cords, display cable and adapter, a camera, assorted textbooks/ notebooks/ binders, and some snacks

The green Tom Bihn is rad! I would keep my MacBook Pro, charger, books for school, MacLife magazine and my spillproof coffee cup...it makes my life a lot better. Thanks for entering me to win!

I know that the orange bag may not be age appropriate for me and would draw disapproving glances from my Law Enforcement colleagues. However, its hipster doofus qualities make me yearn to fill it with all of the Mac-centric tools I hide from my wife, like my Dell net-book loaded with OSX goodness, 8GB Lacie It's-a-key USB drive I couldn't resist buying, various cables, mismatched chargers, and last but certainly not least, my Mophie juice-pak to squeeze out another 30 minutes of Madden '11 on my iPhone 4. Why? Because The Dallas Cowboys deserve to be punished! But I digress. It's a nice bag with an even nicer collection of gear.

I would really like one of these bags to help keep me organized as I tend to scatter my stuff from one bag to another. It would be nice to have everything in it's place for once.

avatar

This would be perfect to carry my 15" macbook pro, all my cables, my external drive and various other accessories around with me. I'm using an unwieldy old - 20 years is old no? - soft briefcase thing that can only hold the macbook without looking like it will bust at the seems.

Using a north face borealis for my macbook, headphones, textbooks and everything else but i could always use a new bag.

5.11 Tactical makes a great bag called the Side Trip that holds my Macbook Pro and has a ton of other pockets. I keep about 7 or 8 bootable thumb drives with different OS's on them as well as 500GB 2.5" notebook hard drive that I put in an external case body for extra storage. I also have several tableau write blockers, ear phones, a small digital camera...of course this is for doing computer forensics when needed. I DON'T have a personal bag with cool tricks because of money but maybe I could WIN one :-)

I completely understand the loyalty camps for messenger vs backpack. I wouldn't carry a backpack unless I were hiking. I use the Fuchs nylon Messenger Bag and it's brilliant - it's completely collapsible so it changes to fit the size of whatever I need to carry.

avatar

cgarza725

I would like the green messenger bag. I would keep my Macbook Pro, and my camera, and my power cords, and chewing gum. Also, a paperback novel, just in case I run out of battery.

avatar

While my in case sleeve provides a nice soft place to store my MacBook Pro, it's not really great on the go. That backpack would have ample room for my MBP, my iPad (which I take with me to most places), my portable HD, various USB keys, my iPhone, and my Bluetooth headset and earphones. Not to mention a few issues of MacLife to read on the go :P

avatar

rbryns

Definitely a backpack person -- carry a High Sierra that is my mobile office -- typically around 25-30 lbs of laptop, ipod, headphones, notebook, gps, cords, paperwork and books

avatar

lunalady

Not only is purple my favorite color, but my MacBook Pro would nestle very nicely in there. It would also hold a few skeins of yarn, my knitting needles and perhaps my favorite kitty (provided she is up to an outing!). Oh....and lest we not forget....my latest issue of Mac Life!

avatar

rmwhit

Either bag would be great. The bag I have is more like an attache. I like all the pockets, etc. It has been a few years since I used a backpack. Think I would love the messenger bag. The goodies that come with them are, not only VERY helpful, they are quite cool!!!

avatar

I like the look of the TomBihn bag...looks like it would fit everything I carry in my Swissgear bag with a smaller footprint.

avatar

I currently use a Wenger laptop backpack from Target no less and it packs everything an IT man needs! My MacBook Pro, every cable that can connect to the MacBook (power, FireWire 400/800, USB, VGA, audio and Griffin iMic), as well as 6 flash drives, 2 external HDs. Did I mention it holds an extra bag with my iPod Touch and it's assorted cabled extra power adaptor and Kensington external battery? Oh yeah had to squeeze in my new iPad in there too! The Synergy Tom Bihn looks like it has as many pockets and more-I think I need that bag!

avatar

the green backpack because it will help me keep all my stuff together and keep me organized. This will also give me a great opportnity to start my new journey into the college world.

avatar

crazyskierman

The perfect bag is the incase sling pack laptop case. It is the best bag and perfect for carrying around a macbook, Ipad, and ipod all in one bag. Along with that there is plenty of extra room for all your accessories. Yet the bag is still awesome looking and its a bag that makes people ask, "Where did you get that?"

avatar

Sq bake

I use a canvas bag given to me at work. keep my iPad,iPhone, books, files, purse, lunch ....... Would love a new organized bag!

avatar

joshuashollenberger

i would put my valuables in the green messenger bag so I could stop loosing my iPhone and my head phones. I have been looking for a messenger bag to fit my laptop in and that is comfortable to carry and has space for extras like the P-flip and the grid it organizer I would be interested to try out the head phones as well because any one I have purchased have broken within a month. Everything listed here would be a must in the bag Mac life magazine to the external harddrive.... A great present for a college student

avatar

clouddancerss

I don't have any electronic devices, except a Palm Pilot, and it's old. I carry that, some notebooks, and whatever, in an old knapsack, not ideal.

avatar

Timbuk2 bag. I used to live in SF, and this bag was the bike messenger's industry standard. I carry: MacBook Pro, Ipad Wifi, G-Drive Mini, Moleskine in a Rickshaw cover, waterfield case that manages cables and other accessories, Kodak Zi8, 2 small moleskine notebooks, pens, pencils, and maclife mag!

avatar

rayjay

I would take the book bag in a heartbeat. I recently purchased my 13'' Macbook Pro and have been carrying it in this Swiss, bulky, UGLY messenger bag. I like book bags anyway. I would purchase a Mac mouse, along with my make up for fashionable touch-ups, textbooks, my iphone, keys....I have never won anything in a contest or sweepstake! I would love to win this one!!!! :)

avatar

aelgohary

i like the orange-green bag better...i put my macbook pro and my text books and my work documents and sometimes my iphone 4...that's a nice contest

Alas, I currently do not own a bag to keep my fun stuff in. : ( However, if i would be lucky enough to win one of these bags - how cool would that be. I could carry what few items i do have and hope to collect a few more gadgets in the future. Just converted over to senior status - turned 60 on November 5th - I am retired (unemployed, whatever) with very limited income. Trying to find a job is difficult at best, but age 60 scares everyone off - another candidate always prevails over me, even though I have lots of experience. and with the economy crazy now days, and health care even worse (my health care premiums are going up after the first of the year by $200 per month!!), my limited income just does not stretch for the purchase of a new bag.

avatar

For me, the messenger bag would be great. I'd keep my iPod touch, iPad and other gear I there.

I love the Synapse from Bihn. It's sexy and roomy. Two things I look for in girlfriends too!
Currently I am using a messenger bag I got from Gamestop for pre-ordering Mirror's Edge. It's an exact replica of the one in game.
I store my art supplies (paper, pens, pencils, eraser, etc...), but when I travel I use it to hold all of my essentials (id, tickets, money, magazines, etc...)

avatar

My school backpack is quickly converted into a travel backpack for my MacBook, Sony Nex-5 camera, PSP, and the erroneous cables and cords. This works ok but the largeness of the bag makes it a pain to travel with but a necessity for school. A new bag would be awesome!

avatar

Mooneymac

I went from a Tumi backpack with laptop sleeve to smaller bags (e.g. Filson) and now I am using a standard messenger bag from Timbuktu. I am a lawyer and sometime cram a lot of stuff in their. It is also great for traveling. I commute by bicycle often and its large enough to throw some gloves, a sweatshirt or whatever in there when necessary.

I would love to have the messenger bag to compare it.

I keep gum, carmex, and energy drinks in my bag. I would give the messenger bag to my 11 year old son who has developed a "thing" for messenger bags. His current one is falling apart and could really use a new one!

I love the look of the Tom Bihn backpack! The waterproof iPhone pocket is a must-have for me. I would use the bag for university, so it would hold:
- MacBook
- iPhone
- charging cables for both
- textbooks
- earbuds
- pens
- paper
- sunglasses
- keys
- wallet
- books/magazines

avatar

I've been using a RoadWired bag for about 4 years and it's great, but time for a new one! I keep my 17" MacPro, thumb drives, cables, and stuff in my bag.

avatar

walkingdoor

I would pack my Super Ego Messenger bag with my mac book and my Nikon camera. Along with my books and my Bible. I do not go anywhere without my bag.

avatar

Blackwolf

Both are great I m Gonna be so Happy if I can put my hands on it. I love tecnology, good luck everybody.

I'm currently hauling my Macromedia Conference 2004 Timbuk2 messenger bag around. I've been known to tax it's integrity with a mac book, iPad, portable hard drive, Samsung Hz10 camera, Sony mdr 7506 headphones USB cables and adapters, several flash drives, card readers, business cards, pens and styluses, keys, breath mints, and occasionally a change of underwear all at one time. While the Flash MX 2004 logo certainly has street cred, six years is a long time. A new backpack would even allow me to carry more crap, Thus making it impossible for a mugger to run away slogging that much weight.

avatar

imacpackfan

awesome bag. Would keep it filled with my 17" MacBook, iPhone, earbuds, thumbdrive, keys, work notes....and just about anything else I would need for the day! Thanks for the contest!

The Green and Orange bag will hold my MacBook Pro, iPod touch, and cell phone.

I'm currently using a targus feron backpack for school, and it is awesome. It holds my heaviest loads, being three binders, three workbooks 2 textbooks, 3 reading book, a ti-84 silver, pencil case, and lunch. It's also water proof to boot.

I have multiple bags for different functions. The work backpack with all my work electronics, cables, paperwork, etc. The play messenger bag with my net book, personal electronics, cables, notepad, etc. My Side business backpack with my notebook, my software, various parts and pieces, and notepads.

I think I am way to busy, or just need to find a better solution!

Out of all the bags I have had for my Macs, the one I have right now is my favorite. It's brown backpack with leather accents, and it's the perfect bag for me. I keep all my accersories in it like my mouse, chords, cds, and other peripherals. However the one thing I dislike about it is how easily it fills up with stuff and gets heavy.

avatar

prowl

the green bag is cool - better than my current bag. I always like a backpack but many are too big.

I just got an iPad and bought an incase cover for it. I'm using an army navy surplus type messenger bag. It has pockets for the power cord and an inside zippered compartment for papers. I am torn each day whether to grab my macbook or iPad...so I probably need the backpack to take both. I too am a shopper who is always looking for the 'perfect' laptop bag.
